Edna...you are a blessing. Thanks so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge and I appreciate how you give your own time to explain things, answer questions & emails and provide these tutorials.

And on top of that, you always look so pretty and polished with every hair in place!!! I don't know how you do it all. You are a Super Caker!!

Thanks again icon_biggrin.gif

I get them at Michaels and clean them well..they can be sharpen with a pencil sharpener..For smaller cakes, wilton sells some too.

Edna, I loved the video. I have had a fear of the long middle dowel bending the cake board under a layer and not going through, so I had punched a hole in the middle of the cake boards to make it go through easier. should I not do this? Also, how do you serve one of these cakes? Do you just start serving until you run into a dowel, pull it out, and continue serving? Do you ever miss and leave a dowel in someone's serving? Sorry for so many questions but I have my first wedding cake coming up. Thanks again for all your help.

Edna, with all these heavy stacked cakes is that why you have such a healthy collection of bakery assistants (aka Chocolate men) to help you? icon_wink.gif
My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of M&M's and a chocolate cake. I feel better already.

That's why you sharpen the dowel, so it breaks the cardboard and it holds on to the drum at the bottom.

Yes, I would love to know where your business gets the cardboard dowels.

And I agree, you look so different from what I imagined. I, too, was opting for an older lady. Funny how people don't look like you have them built up in your mind's eye.

Hey, I either conjure up a truck driver with the screen name Mac or maybe it is someone who is skinnier and younger....Ha! I would go for the younger if I could keep all my knowledge and experiences.
