Hi all i have been finding it difficult to get flesh coloured colouring here in the uk and was wondering if anyone knew which colour i could use someone suggested paprika but i can't seem to get that either

Can you find copper (the colour i mean)? Use only tiny amount of it. - Easier is it to color small batch with copper and add it stepwise to your icing/fondant.
Or mix copper as 1 part Egg Yellow & 1 part Brown & 1 Christmas Red.

Let first stand the copper coloured part to deepen your basis color and then mix it to icing/fondant.

You could try flesh as 2 parts bright and 1 part peach, but this one I didn't use yet. The two methods before - yes.

I too have used the tiniest dot of copper gel colour in buttercream. I know some people like to use an ivory colour too.

However, just last week I needed a flesh colour for painting on fondant. I tried "watering" down a tiny dab of copper with vodka, but it was way too dark. I went to my local bulk store and actually found a "flesh colour" gel colour. I bought it and tried it with vodka and it was a bit too dark too. So I used some of the Wilton "White White" colouring that helps make a super white buttercream if you are using butter in your recipe. I found that a tiny dab of flesh colour, some white-white, and some vodka worked well. I can't remember the name of the company who makes it (sorry), but it took me a bit to find it. I do know that when I actually use it on the plaque (in two weeks) that I really need to dilute the colour to avoid it being too fake looking.

In fact, you'll know the character I am making with it. My in-laws are Scottish transplants to Canada, and my father-in-law loves "Oor Wullie." So I am making him a cake with a fondant plaque of Oor Wullie. I plan to do a "colour" version of him. So thus the flesh tone.

you can get wilton colours in lakeland (who also do online orders), to get the flesh colour on my boob cake, i used some ivory and a touch of pink.

I use a tiny bit of pink, and some caramel brown.

Are you able to do mail order? The advice you received was good; I really think that Paprika (Sugarflair brand) makes the best flesh tones (used very sparingly).

I use a bit of pink, some melon yellow & a touch of autumn leaf (pale brown) - add brown according to the skin tone you want. It's fiddly but it works!

Will do! My FIL's b-day is mid-April, so we will be having his party on Easter weekend - Good Friday probably.

He's also a huge football fan, and I found a pic of Oor Wullie in a football jersey (which I MUST do in Glasgow Rangers colours or risk being disowned by the in-laws) with his foot on a football, and he is holding up a trophy. I haven't yet firmed up the wording I will use, but I am thinking "Happy Birthday to Oor Grampa" maybe adding the word "champion" in there somewhere to acknowledge the trophy?? Still thinking on that one.

rangers are due to play oor biggest rivals celtic in the final of the cis insurance cup on the 15th of this month if we win you could reference this on your trophy and really impress the in-laws

Ooooh - that's awesome! I am printing this off right now! I'm going to have to bake a bigger cake. I can see that. Actually, it's funny because my in-laws are both Rangers fans (FIL from Dumbarton and MIL from Clydebank). My hubby and his brother were both born over there (in Faifley - sp? - hospital if memory serves) but moved here when they were kids. I was brought up Catholic as was my sister-in-law who married hubby's brother. So although she and I have no real football affiliation whatsoever, we love to give them the gears by teasing them about being Celtic supporters. You can imagine how THAT goes over! Always good for a laugh! I will definitely let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the help!
