I have someone wanting a teapot themed cake for 16 adults and 16 kids. If I get the ball pan to make the teapot, how big should the remaining cake be to feed everyone, and what would you charge?

This is new territory for me, and she wants a price quote, but I am clueless to the amount of time, effort, batter, icing, fondant (overhead) etc. it will take from me.

And is the best way to make the teapot with the Wilton ball pan? what is it, 6 inches?

Hi,

Funny to see this tonight since this is what I'm working on for an order.

Do they want to serve the teapot? If not, I'll tell you what I'm doing.

I used the Wilton ball pan and filled it with RKT. I'm then going to cover it in fondant and hand paint it with gel colors. I also molded the spout and handle out of RKT. I'll put the 2 halves together with toothpicks, slice off a bit of the bottom so it will stand and slice off a bit off the top to make a cover, covered in fondant.

I'm placing this on a 6" round piece of styro covered in fondant and then this will go onto a 14" round cake.
My client wanted to save the teapot for a little while so that's why we opted to make it out of RKT.

You could do something similar and place it on a 9" (32 servings) or a 10" (38 servings) depending on how big they want the servings to be.

I'm charging them the normal price for the 14" ($3.00 x 65 approx) and $25 for the teapot since it's a fairly simple design.
