I'm pretty new to CC and have a question about uploading pictures to the Galleries. I saw a previous post about duplicates photos, but that doesn't really address my question. Can a photo be uploaded to only 1 gallery and if so, do you just have to decide which gallery you want it to be in? For example, if I want to upload a picture of Valentine's Day cookies, do I put it in the Cookies gallery or the Valentine's Day gallery? Also, how do contest photos enter into this? I entered a photo in the Romatic Cakes contest, but it is a Valentine cake. Does that mean I can't also upload it to the Valentine's Day gallery or do I move it out of the contest gallery which is now ended and put it in the Valentine's Day gallery instead? What about pictures I have already uploaded that I may want to enter in future contests? If this info is already explained somewhere, can someone please direct me to it?!! Thanks!

i know the info is up and about somewhere - i dont know where. searching somehow managed to reveal nothing.
if you have a cake, it can only be uploaded to one gallery - its up to you whether you want to go for the competition, which afterall matches the theme anyway, or another gallery.
that one picture can have multiple angles in it, some simple editing can do that. best way to ensure it gets shown to the best effect!
not sure about moving pics from a gallery into the competition.
if you upload the same cake, even if its two different photos of it, one picture can be removed - which means you lose any comments or favourites that pic had.
i think the best advice is to think about your key words when you upload your pictures - that way your 'valentines' 'cookies' will come up in a search regardless of which gallery they go in.

USE OF THE PHOTO GALLERY
You must crop or blur out, all people's faces before uploading your photos. Uploading photos with people's faces, even your own face to the gallery is a violation of these terms and your photo uploading privileges will be revoked.

It is ok to upload photos of cakes that utilize a person's face as part of the decoration. For example, if you made a cake that had a frosting sheet print out of someone's face. That is ok. That is part of the actual decoration of the cake and is acceptable.

Duplicate photos are not allowed.

You may upload 1 photo of a cake and choose the most appropriate photo gallery for that 1 photo. On occasion it is ok to upload a different angle of your cake, but we prefer you only do that if it the other photo shows entirely different details of the cake, that are not visible at all in the other photo. Please try and limit any "different" angle photos to just 1, that way there are not more than 2 photos in the gallery of the 1 cake.

This can be found under CakeCentral.com Terms

puffcake, when you have something that 'could' go in two different galleries, pick the most common one, then use the other in your Keywords, so it comes up in a search.

For example, I would put my ValDay cookies in "cookies", then put "valentines day" in the keyword field. So if someone looks in the cookie gallery, they will see your cookies .... and if they search for "valentines day", they will find your cookies.

Also, in keywords, be aware of different spellings or combinations of words that people might search under: M&M, M & M, M&M's, M&Ms / Valentine Day, Valentines Day, Valentine's Day / Coke, Coca Cola / . Use as many as possible in keywords so your photo can be found.

Thanks everyone for your help! I think the only thing I'm unclear on now is the contest photos. What do I do if I have a picture already in a gallery, then a contest comes along that I want to enter it in? It would be in 2 galleries or am I supposed to move it somehow? If I upload a photo for the first time to enter a contest, does it stay there? It will then never be in its "proper" category like a specific holiday, etc.

You can hit edit photo and then move it to the contest. Your name and any comments will not be visible to anyone viewing the contest photos but they will reappear once the contest is over and your photo is moved back to the previous gallery. At least that is how I understand it. I could be wrong though.

After the contest is over you can use the edit button to move your cake out of the contest gallery into any gallery you wish.
