Has anyone mixed a white and a yellow cake mix together? I'm wondering because when people specifically ask for "butter" cake instead of a "white" cake, I'm not sure what to do. I do NOT like the way real butter affects the outcome of my cakes and I need to find an alternative way to achieve a butter type cake. Does the "butter cake" mix box have the same ingredients as a yellow cake...only the instructions say to use butter instead of oil and use whole eggs instead of just whites? Obviously I'm VERY confused so any help or information would be GREATLY appreciated! thumbs_up.gif

Thanks!
Stacey

I only use french vanilla cake mix and use an enhanced recipe with butter, eggs, and yogurt or sour cream. It gives me delicious and constant results every time

I use DH French Vanilla-adding 1 cup whole milk, 4 whole eggs, 1 stick melted butter, and 1 tablespoon of home made vanilla. It's good every time icon_smile.gif!

i think a white cake made with whole eggs is the same as a yellow cake. now, to make it taste buttery, i make a regular yellow cake with oil and add butter flavored extract.

Thanks y'all! I do LOVE the French Vanilla by DH...just afraid that it may be more vanilla tasting than buttery, as the clients have requested. I think I'll try what jescapades does....box yellow with some butter flavor. Thanks for your super speedy responses!

I use the DH Butter Recipe Golden, and I always have great results with that. It doesn't taste too vanilla-y to me, and definitely has a different taste and consistency than the regular yellow cake. It's my default cake flavor and I've never had a complaint. icon_smile.gif Good luck finding the right recipe! I'm gonna watch the topic, in case a really great one comes across. *grin*

DoniB- Do you think there is a difference in the butter golden and just a yellow cake mix? I mean, besides the ingredient list of adding butter, water and eggs on the back of the box?
