New Beater Blade For Kitchenaid....do You Love It?

Would like to hear from you guys that have purchased the new beater blade for the KA mixer, the one that scrapes the bowl as you go.
I have it and it works great for making cookie dough. I usually use my whisk to make cake batter and icing though. I do not have to scrape my bowl at all while making cookie dough. When I'm done I have to scrape the flour off the sides that flew up out of the beaters reach though, no big deal. I always use my beater blade instead of the whip that came with the mixer.
I just called KitchenAid thinking they manufacture it and they said they don't and they do not recommend using it with the KA products?? I am sooo confused...

Did they say why? I took a candy making class at The Kitchen Shoppe in Carlisle PA back in Dec. we used it during the class and I loved it. It was on back order and I finally made it up there this past week to pick it up. Unfortunately I've been sick with the flu (reason for me posting so frequently this week) and haven't been able to bake.
I am looking forward to using it as long as KA didn't warn against it for fear of ruining my machine.
Me too, I've been using mine since December and I haven't had any problems with the beater or my mixer. What was their reason for not recommending it or did they give you a reason?
They said KA does not manufacture it, so they cannot recommend it because they have not tested it and are not sure if it is "compatible" with their products. So I asked them when they were going to test it and they said since it is not manufactured by KA, they won't be testing it at all.
I'm just gonna buy it. If all else fails, I've been looking to upgrade my KA for awhile now anyways <grin>
KA has a reputation to protect and so they aren't going to recommend that you use any products that are not their own (or at the very least a company contracted through them to make parts).
Rather than testing the Beater Blade, they would probably be more likely to buy some and then try and re-create them
I LOVE mine! I make a modified Buttercream Dream and the beater blade has made such a positive difference in the consistency of my icing. It is much lighter and fluffier but still goes on smooth with no air bubbles and crusts perfectly.
I bought one and I absolutely LOVE it. I'm actually considering buying a second one to go with my second mixer bowl. I swear this stuff is like an addiction!
I think it is the best thing ever!!!
One thing I might add, since the edge (scraper) to the blade is silicone I don't think I'll use it with batter that contain nuts, etc. that might make nicks in the silicone.
I imagine that KA is miffed they didn't market one first. Actually, I am a little miffed that I didn't think of it.
My KA is 5 qt pro that I got at Costco. The blade didn't fit at all so I had to take it back.
I bought one and LOVE it. Of course, my mother got wind and I had to buy her one too! Now my sister jumped on the KA bandwagon and she wants one too...
It is a dream when making NFSC and cakes. I've had mixed results with icing but I think I just need to work on it.
Sour grapes for KA I think...
I got mine for Christmas and I love it. I only make frosting in my KA and I love it. Next on my list is the lids for the KA bowls
By the way , I saw the Beater blade at Sur La Tab , prior to that I could only find it online.
Can you post a link to where to buy one at? I would love to get one! I have heard that they work good.

Just go to amazon.com and type in beaterblade (all one word) and it will bring up a list of different sized blades - be sure to check and recheck the size you are ordering to ensure that you get the right size!
You can also just google "beaterblade" and find tons of places that carry it including Cheftools, King Arthur Flour, Sur La Table, etc. etc. Just find a retailer you are comfortable with...one that offers free shipping would be good too Amazon offers free shipping but if you buy the $24.95 beaterblade you come up 5¢ short for free shipping, DOH!
I like mine a lot but I do feel like I get more unmixed batter/icing accumulating in the inner "struts" (for lack of a better word) as compared to my standard KA paddle. Does anyone else notice this or is it just me ?
I LOVE mine too! I've used it for cookies, brownies, cake batter, and all my frostings. I do get some air bubbles in my frosting so I generally switch back to my regular blade once all the powdered sugar is in but I believe this is because my kitchen is so cold. I had a few bubbles back when the weather was warmer but they weren't a big deal and were easy to smooth. I have to say this though, the BeaterBlade makes the creamiest frosting!! Here's a video showing me using it:

I love mine too. It makes things so much easier... no stopping and scraping. I use it for cakes and cookies and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
If you have a 5qt Pro Plus you need the bigger blade. I have an Artisan and a Pro 5 Plus and I needed 2 different sized blades.
I was going post a 'thumbs-up' a while ago about this blade in the forums when I tried mine, but then hesitated to do so. I absolutely LOVE how it scrapes the sides of the bowl on my KA (what a difference!), but it makes my KA 'squeak'. DH says not to worry about it so I use it, but I was concerned to recommend it lest it cause problems for anyone's KA after I recommended it. Mine seems to be handling it just fine, but it is a little hard to mix things in cognito when the family is asleep! Maybe it is just my mixer though, but I don't have any squeak when I don't use it. That is just my concern about recommending it (but it does work like a charm!)
I got mine for my birthday last July, and I noticed about a month ago, it has a stress fracture from the base of where you insert it, to almost half the length....... I'm still using it, but I figure it is on the way out......
I'd love to see KA come out with one that is heavy duty metal like their traditional paddle. You can adjust your KA's paddle position up a little to make it squeak less. If I have recipes that don't have butter and sugar creaming, I will use my normal paddle until there's enough in there to not be so noisy.
