My son wants a pink birthday cake for his 4th birthday. Luckily, his Dad is in full and easy agreement with me that if he wants a pink cake, he shall have a pink cake. But I am having trouble thinking of a party theme that will allow him to have a pink cake and still not scream 'girl'. Ballet, butterflies, flowers......not so much. I thought I could make a pink Candyland cake and do a Candyland theme. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks, Heather

I have a grrrreat idea for you! And it is pretty unisex. How bout something like thisicon_sad.gifPink Panther, a piggy bank, or a Mr.Mrn theme, with Mr.Chatty as your main character cake! He is pink but very much a boy! Hope this helps stir up some pink ideas for you!! Good luck! thumbs_up.gificon_biggrin.gif

I think the piggy banks or the Pink Panther are great ideas. icon_smile.gif

Thanks for the ideas. I especially think the piggy banks are cute and they are fitting, since he is already into saving those pennies!

Using the piggy bank as inspiration, how about a farm theme and make a pig in a pen with mud splashed on him? Then you could pull in tractors, horses, straw, and such to make it boyish and he could even play pin the tail on the donkey icon_smile.gif

Great ideas on the piggies but I love the Candyland idea too! A friend of mine did a lifesized candyland board for the kids to play. Just do the "squares" out of different colored construction party and have different candy favors, etc. She laid the squares in a cleared out room on the floor in the same shape as the game. Cleverest idea I've seen at a birthday in a long time!

I don't know if he likes skateboards, but my son and nephew a few years back were wild about some Tony Hawk (or somebody like that) skateboard that was electric pink and black tiger stripes with skulls?.

I did this for a 4 year old boy who insisted on a pink T-Rex!

I love the pink dino! That's so fun.
And after sleeping on the piggy bank idea, I too thought......"what about a pig and a farm theme?" (Great minds think alike! icon_biggrin.gif )
The Candyland ideas are fun too.......you could do a lot with decor for that one!
Thanks for all of the fun ideas.....I can always count on CC when my brain is too addled to think up anything new.....

I've got no additional ideas to add, but I just wanted to say I think it's adorable that your son wants a pink cake and GREAT that you (and your DH) are going for it!

Mr.Men is a line of books and a tv show when I was a child and like everything else, it has made a come back along with little miss. Here are some of those characters. My daughter had a Mr. Men/Little miss themed party this year. They are adorable! thumbs_up.gif

They are cute. I must be either too old or too young, cause I really have never heard of them.

Does you son like the Backyardigans? I know Austin on the show is a purple-pink color and Uniqua is pink polka dotted. You can make them into a fun looking cake. icon_smile.gif

How about a pink elephant -- like in Dumbo?

Or how about a bubble gum themed party with a cake made to look like a giant piece of pink Bazooka bubble gum - very easy! You could find some Bazooka comics online and print them off to use as decoration around the cake.

You could also have little goodie bags with Bazooka bubble gum for the kids to take home.

Honestly you can do countless things in pink. Dinosaurs (great cake BTW Diane!), dragons...lots of things that don't scream "girl".

I applaud your DH for not freaking out about his son wanting a pink cake as well. It's just a color after all! I wish all men were that smart.

You could do a pink dolphin like they saw in a lake recently:

Or some other albino animal, most at least have pink eyes.

More boys are into pink, last year my son saw another grass dancer in pink regalia and told me how cool it was.
