How do you all transport your cupcakes to the client without them touching each other and smearing your hard work (sides especially).

I have an order for 8-10 dozen cupcakes and don't know how to get them from point A to point B in good condition. The cucake transporters they sell will squish my high cupcake top. I can't put them side by side because that will ruin the sides.

Any ideas or tips are appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I bought a few large cake boxes - I can't remember dimensions but they would fit a whole sheet cake.
I also found some plastic cupcake liners from my cake decorating store and they hold 12 cupcakes per liner, I can fit 4 liners into each cake box. If you have a cake decorating supply store, see if they carry the liners, they are cheap (cost me $1 each) and can be washed and re-used.
If you don't have something like this available, I would purchase cupcake containers which you could probably buy from your local grocery store. They typically only hold 6 per container but if that is all you have to work with, they would have to do icon_biggrin.gif

If you have a large grocery store, they usually sell plastic cupcake containers in their bakery. My stores sell a 12 ct. clear plastic holder for $.50/each. I usually decorate my cupcakes with a high swirl and the top of the container never touches.

I agree with sgirvan.

I buy the large cake boxes made for a whole sheet cake and put the cupcakes in there. but I also buy shelf liner from my local grocery store and put them underneath the boxes in my car- they never move.

And....drive very carefully. icon_biggrin.gif

Hi, I usually buy a sheet of styrofoam and toothpick the cupcakes to the styrofoam, that way you can space them as you need (sides not touching). Then when you get to the party just gently lift them off the toothpick spear. It does leave a small hole, but it's on the bottom of the cupcake and generally barely noticeable.

I've found this method is very secure for transport - I once has 5 dozen cupcakes going up a winding mountain road and had to swerve to avoid a car and they did not move an inch.

I have also cut a piece of the shelf liner and laid it on cake board in the box and put my cuppies on it and they don't move inside the box.

Where I live, the biggest boxes I found were 14"x14", it can take 16 to 20 cupcakes. I line the box with a thin styrofoam board, then pipe a bit of BC under each cupcake, to hold it in place on the styrofoam.

Hope this helps.

I bought plastic containers on eBay.

There are little finger slots on the sides so you can pick them up without messing up icing.
