I really don't have a question, I'm just very excited over something so small, but big for me, and I just wanted to share it with you guys.
I've always made cakes for my family, never anything big, and so I decided to buy some wilton cake pans, got a great deal, a pack of 4, a 6 8 10 & 12 inch set, regular $35, but had a michael's cupon and got 'em for $23! Now as if that wasn't great in itself, I've just baked one layer this morning, and it is so much better than those cheap cake pans from the dollar store!! My layer is full and not a huge hump in the middle!! I think I've been missing out all this time! So, anyway, i'll stop rambling now, I just wanted to share my good news with someone, since i'm home all by my lonesome! icon_biggrin.gif

When that Wilton set gets warped and dented, go ahead and splurge on some Magic Line cake pans. You won't regret it!

It was a toss up between the two for me - whats the difference? do magic line just bake better than FD?

I only have 2 magic line pans, but I love them! Much better than the Wilton pans in my opinion! icon_smile.gif

There are several threads on the pans and their differences. I have one FD and it is always the last one I reach for. The only thing I like about my Fat Daddio's pan is the name.

Triple DITTO! I have one Fat Daddio and it's my least favorite pan but I love my magic line.

Sorry to hijack...but where's the best place to order Magic Line from, considering price of pans and shipping?

I agree with you Tina, Those cheap pans just don't do the trick like a better quality pan.

SOLD! On my way to scope out the best prices on Magic Line - I was leaning toward the FD's for 2 reason, 1. They are sold locally at the cake supply place and 2. Cool name! haha!!

But, you have sufficiently changed my mind!

Tinabug1979 - congratulations on a great bargain. I love my Wilton pans and I've had many of them for years. I've never had a problem with denting or warping. You're right, they're so much better than the cheapies. Happy Baking!

You know, I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with the "don't buy Fat Daddios" comments. While I AM just starting out, I have two Fat Daddio pans that I LOVE. There is absolutely nothing wrong with these pans.

I will likely continue to buy from them, simply because I cannot see, even with all the reading where they are worth the extra money. Just my personal opinion, and not worth even enough to pay for a new pan....

If you eve use magic line you'll see the difference and know why they are they worth the price. If you want sharp, crisp edges and corner go with magic line. I've used all 3 brands and wont buy anything but magic line in the future.

I have all 3 brands, Wilton, Magic Line, and Fat Daddio's.

My favorite is Fat Daddio's. I hate the Magic Line square pans...too square, hard to clean, and a pain to grease. The rounds ones are fine.

i have some wiltons, magic line and fat daddio's and they all work very well. i have to say my FD's and ML's are waaay nicer and a much wiser investment.

create a cake - orange park, blanding blvd away from the mall. He has some really great stuff, carries Satin Ice etc. He is NOT open on Monday, I learned that the HARD way!!

I usually order my fondant now from fondantsource in Kissimmee - crazy fast shipping and super super cheap!!

Thank you.

I have been using the Wilton round pans for a few years, never had a problem. I also love my square Fat Daddios! But when its time to get new pans, I am definately ordering Magic Line. They have such a great review from everyone!

Love this website. Very nice folks too. When I called them to order stuff last summer and we got talking and cake central came up he mentioned to me that they offer 10% if you enter "cake central" (I can't remember if there is a space or not). It still worked the last time I used it so I'm sure it's an ongoing thing for them.
