For those of you that are packaging individual cookies in bags and then putting a paper label or card over the top, can you share exactly what you are using? Are you just printing paper labels and stapling them over the top? I see lots of pix of packaged cookies, but can never quite see the details.
Also, are these paper tags available pre-printed and pre-cut? Thanks ahead of time for any help you can give me. Heather

I use card stock cut to fit the top of the cellophane bag. I have a special cutter that alllows you to measure the card as you use an "arm" to hold it in place and a knife that quickly zips down the paper.

Once I figure my dimensions, I can do these fairly quickly. I use a ruler to score the paper so it folds nicely and then staple them to the bags.

I haven't figured out yet how to print on the paper first and then cut it out, so I often print on separate paper, cut it out and use a gluestick to put on the details.

I use cardstock and print up what I want the tag to say and cut it using a full-size paper cutter, making it just a tad wider than the bag. I fold it over and use double-sided sticky tape to attach it front and back so I don't have staples showing. I do heat seal the bag first, so it is securely closed and won't pop open. I use a hair straightener just for this purpose and it works well.

I also recently did some where I used Avery labels to print on and then just attached those to colored cardstock folded over as explained above. It gave it a nice, clean, professional look. Hope this helps!

I've bought scrapbook paper and cut it to fit...lots of patterns and colors!

I saw a You Tube video that showed a professional heat seal machine, and of course don't need anything that extravagant. I may have to use a "practice bag" with my hair straightening iron! What a great idea- I'll get a dedicated one after seeing the results. Thanks!

Thanks for all of the replies. I love the hair straightener idea! So great. I was going to try an iron, but a hair straightener would be much more convenient really. Do you have to put something between the bag and the hot plate to keep the bag from sticking?
Heidicrumbs.......I am not selling these cookies at all. I am gifting them, at the moment. But I am exploring the possibility of selling in the future.......sort of getting people addicted to them first! lol

$100 hair straightener...$15 iron. I used an iron.

Do people spend $100.00 on hair straighteners? I must be totally out of it, cause the one I have cost $11.49, plus tax.
Still the question would be the same? If you are melting the plastic enough to make it stick together, is it also sticking to the iron?

Well, I guess I made the mistake of asking my hair lady how much one of those things cost and that's what they sell. Do the $15 ones work well? Can you adjust the temperature setting? I mainly used the iron because I had it. If you have a hair iron, then give it a try!

No, didn't stick to my iron. Keep it on a fairly low setting and turn it up until you find the right temperature. You have to use the ones with the seam down the back (the crinkly kind), not the smooth ones (like Wilton sells) with side seams. I believe those ones will melt.

I heat seal the bags.
then I make the labels with MS Powepoint [make a box as wide as the bag, and twice as tall as you want it for folding. type up your message or add clipart. copy as much as will fill a page and print on a sheet of cardstock. then cut and fold]
I also stick it on the bag with doublesided tape or this craft tape thingie that I had from scrapbooking.

I have also used pretty paper, cut holes and tied with ribbon...

I use a hair straightener that I bought for 8.99 on clearance. It has heat settings 1-30. I set mine on 5 to seal the bag and I have not had any stick.

MIchelle- my hair straightener (apparently the cheap variety! ) has 10 temperature settings and it works OK. It has metal plates, I think. Maybe the very expensive ones have ceramic plates? In any event, it works fine for me, although I only use it occasionally.
