How To Pull This One Off ... Doug??? Big Turtle Cake...

I have a customer who wants a sculpted cake for her daughter's bat mitzvah that looks like this:
Anyone out there have any thoughts on how to pull it off? I was thinking the smaller turtle and fins and head on the larger one could be rice krispie treats. If I make them far enough ahead they will be rock solid, but will they be too heavy? Maybe a stand with PVC pipe to attach the smaller turtle to?
Thoughts anyone???
Okay - sorry folks - but I am giving myself a bump, anyone have any thoughts on supports or a base for this doozie?
PLUS I need to send a price quote to this person - to feed about 150 people I think. Where is Duff's crew when you need them?
So sorry no one can help you. I haven't done many sculpted cakes and for this one.........well I'd just have to say 'sorry, no can do'
One of Lindsay Smith's book has a turtle cake that would be an excellent reference - unfortunately I cant remember exactly which one - its the one that also has a whale in it.
The easiest way I can think of to do this would be to use the "E" shaped metal stand. The larger bottom turtle could be put on the middle stand and tilted a little. The arms (gumpaste) could be attached at the last minute so that the bottom could rest on the table. The smaller turtle would go on the top, but the arms would have to be supported well internally--with maybe two long dowels thru the front of the cake about an inch or two apart with an arm attached to them on either side to balance the weight. You could camouflage the bottom ring with a cake board covered in sea shells and sand or something like that or even a 2 inch cake decorated in this manner for extra servings. The back of the E would be visible though.
You also could do it with the bottom turtle right on a cake board with the arms more horizontal and the top turtle floating. Then you would need just one plate elevated.
If you have to do something that needs to be seen from all angles, then a central PVC pipe with plates and the rest would be the same as above. It would be easier to disguise the support that way but more work on your end.
I hope you can make sense of that.
