I'd like to put this together for a friend in the army. I'd love some ideas of what to use as a container, and what to put inside. Thanks!

You cou find out what rank he is and do an insignia cookie or his specific job and make a cookie based on that.

What about an army boot as a container? Or you could camoflauge just about anything... a flower pot...a metal pail......?

Can I just add NOT to have boots as a planter? It's considered bad luck.
But take it from me.....ANYTHING you bake will be fine with the Army!
Trust me, I've had them lined up and down my street in humvees when they found out I was baking that day. Neighbors thought we were under attack!
Oh, by the way, my son is in the Nat. Guard. So I feel like I've adopted his whole company. Anything but boots is my suggestion!

Being full time Air National Guard myself, I understand where you are coming from. My guard unit is lined up at my door at the slightest hint I might be baking.

Staying away from Combat boots as a container is a great idea. Seeing combat boots by themselves brings up memories of lone boots being lined up in remembrance of those who have died.

Military themed cookies sound (and look) wonderful! Just make sure you make lots of them LOL they will go fast.

I did a yellow ribbon cake for one of the ladies at my bank who was sending both her sons and one of their fiances off to Iraq. I covered the cake board in material from one of my old BDU shirts. They loved it.

You can use two shades of green and one shade of brown fondant all rolled up to give anything an Army camo cover. I did that on the lettering on the cake.

Give your son a salute for me and let him know from one military member to another........I'm proud of him.

Fantastic job!! How did you do the soldier one? Was that an edible image?
