My husband and I live with my "older" (she doesn't consider herself old) mother. Both of them get so tired of me talking about this web site and cakes in general.

They were laughing at me the other day because......

We had gone on a day trip and stopped at a convience store to get a snack. We all three love those gummi peaches. I was eating one and had only taken one bite of it and was looking at the other bite in my hand. Turning it around and around, squeezing the bitten off ends together. Thinking WOW These would make really neat flower petals.

Both of them at the same time -- asked "WHAT are you doing?" When I told them, they looked at each other and my husband said. "All you ever have on your mind is CAKES and mosaics" (I also do mosaics when I am not baking) You better be careful Mom, She will either have you iced or mosaiced if you sit still too long.

What can I say, that is just about all I think about, every where I go I am looking for items to use for either cakes or mosaics.

Well Just wanted to share this funny story with you.

Have a great day....

LOL that is a great story..Isn't this just to funny that we don't realize how much we share here on CC other than cakes. Until someone finally gets the nerve to admit HOW ADDICTED WE ARE!!
My children try to race me to the computer to check their mail. HAHA I stayed logged on and when I hear the keyboard I scream" dont you dare X me out!". They just roll their eyes.

gma1956--

A big shout out from a few miles away. Ha! Ha! I had to go to Bandera about a month ago. That's close to Kerrville, isn't it?

Anyway, my family is pretty "fed" up with my caking too. No pun intended.

I'm even going to Vegas next week as a getaway from the kids and I'm scoping out cake places for my husband to take me too.

I was in the middle of baking cakes, and mixing the other night when my 20-year old son (home from college) told me that I need to STOP making so many cakes! I told him the cake wasn't for us, it was for someone's birthday! Later he asked if he could help me with the decorating?!? I told him he couldn't on the cake, but I showed him how to do a few things on the cake pan, and he did really well! I may have another decorator in the house!

I have to be honest, My BF is great about cakes. He is always asking me if this could be used, or giving me ideas for cakes. He usually looks through some of the photos with me (ok not as often as I look at them, but he is always willing to take a peak when I find neat ones)

I went to wal-mart and found a really neat vase that I thought would make a great cake stand, but I wanted to find different sizes, well he went searching with me to see if we could find them. No such luck icon_sad.gif but I did find some small vases that would be cute on top of cakes with small boquets in them!

He even helped me decorate his neices cake last year! He made roses that were great!

So i guess I haven't "caked" him out yet. And if I do, then it's on to Sugar cookies!! i don't think I can keep up with him on those!

My DH is really good about the cakes because his mother was a baker/decorator too. My kids, however, especially my 6 year old, think I'm nuts. The other day I was doing a cake and my 6 year old comes over and asks if she can help, I told her that I was just finishing and she looks at me, sighs, and says "All you think about is cakes, cakes, cakes!" and walked away.

My family is always wondering when I am going to make something that stays at home. I am either making a cake for a client, making a dish for surch or some other function, or cooking dinner for all of our friends.! And then there's the kids walking around with their index fingers out asking for icing licks!!! LOL I give in sometimes! My DH gets on here from time to time to see the contest and usually says I didn't know you sould do that with cake and icing! We are really blowing his mind. Keep up the good work!

My kids don't really say anything, because they are so little (3&2). But when I'm in the kitchen baking or even making dinner, they are always pretending to make cakes! icon_biggrin.gif My husband didn't care for it in the beginning, but he even helps me come up with ideas now. And he has some good ones, too. So it's not bad (yet) at my house. Thank goodness!

Yes it is about 30 minutes from Kerrville. I use to live in Austin and my brother still lives in RR. Good to know I have a CC addict close.

That is my DH famous quote at church. He says he has to come to a function at church or go to a wedding to get anything I bake. But to look at him you would know that is not the case. He gets plenty all for himself.

It is so good to know that I am not the only one walking around a hardware store or the Kitchen isle just day dreaming....

My poor Hubby... I just started and my boss ordered a cake from me and I had him out looking for things to put on it (beach/hawaii theme) all morning.. He is tired of seeing cakes and all my stuff around the house I am sure. He offers to help but the poor guy burns water.. so he does the dishes for me icon_smile.gif He is used to it though, his mom did/does cakes too...

I get equal time - Mine is here....his is Party Poker!
If it weren't for PP, I'd probably hear some complaining, but he sets up his laptop on the sofa and I'm at the desk and we're both in our own little heavens. icon_lol.gif

Cake decorating is all I talk about these days. My friends have no idea how to bake or decorate so we are loosing common ground with each other! BUT they still love getting cakes!!

Me & the hubby wll be in a conversation & I'll think of a cake thing! I'll jump up, go to the computer write whatever it is down & then get side tracked that I forgot I was even in a conversation with hubby!! He'll grunt or make a comment that brings me back to reality!! It's sooo easy to get so involved in something & loose track of everything else. I've never had a hobby other then gardening. Nothing could keep my interest long enough. Now I'm doing so many cakes that I don't even have time to garden!! I still love gardening though!! Cakes take center stage right now~

I know exactly how that is, even when I don't have my laptop with me, I am doing this. I find notes I have made to myself all over the place. My daughter called me laughing one day, she had found one of my notes and a drawing of an idea in her purse. Who knows how it got there!!!??!!
