LOVE your chandelier cake idea, and congratulations on setting the wedding date!! icon_smile.gif Like a lot of others, I have never even attempted blown sugar, but would love to learn!

What i wouldn't give to be there on the day to see that 10 tier cake -
Sounds utterly brillante....jaw dropping actually.

Never done anything sugar blown - but from way over here i am putting my hand up and waving it madly in rediness to learn.

Every happiness for your up coming day - and if by chance you hear a little ...Ausssie - Aussie - Aussie... from the back of your wedding - you know its me - icon_wink.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.giftapedshut.gificon_lol.gif

Just kidding - but would love to be there all the same....to see the final presentation.

How would the curls be attached to the cake? I would think that the sugar would dissolve if poked into the cake. Something to keep in mind when deciding on a medium. And the cake slices wouldn't be that attractive with holes in them.

Using something more stable like gum paste would allow everyone to start sending them in now and eliminate the last minute rush when wedding plans are at their most hectic.

He guys, I looked through my catalog I mentioned earlier(Maids of Scandenvia) and I only saw Isomal sold there. I didn't see the equipment you would need, Like a heat lamp or the hand pump. So I miss spoke. I love the idea of the gumpaste figures of ourselves, but do you know how many thousands that would be? Maybe a contest to pick the best 500. Kind of like a invitation to the wedding. I also love the idea of the jello balls, wish there was a way to get the shapes you want. But a wedding is all about what the Bride wants. So, what every you decide, I'm sure will be fantastic!

Best Wishes on your wedding! I think your idea is fabulous! Thank you for thinking of and wanting CC users to be a part of your special day. The CC site has been such an inspiration and education for me that this would be a great way for me to say "Thank you" for giving all of us this site for sharing. I have yet to try blown sugar, and leave it to CC to get me inspired to try! Get that video up and running so I have lots of time to practice! icon_biggrin.gif

How awesome...... Congrats on the upcoming nups! (It's abt time).... I think that is so wonderful to want to include everyone on CC - that chandelier is gorgeous. Will the artist be making the cake top ?? I would love to participate - however, I have never worked with blown sugar before....
Very much interested in a simple tutorial !!
Thank you !!

First, Congratulations!!! party.gif Secondly, your idea is the coolest idea ever! That chandelier is absolutely stunning. I, like so many of the others, have never worked with pulled/blown sugar, but would be honored to participate.

i really hope this can be pulled off. i love that chandelier!! too bad we couldn't get local workshops set up in different areas. it's been a while since i worked with pulled sugar(only in school). i loved it. i guess i'd worry about it shipping too.
darn...i wish it would have been something to do with cookies....

CONGRATS!!!!!!

Congratulations!!! I don't do candy but I am thinking that it would be too heavy for a cake. How about royal icing decorations going up the cake similar to the chandelier?

Myself along with other CC members who met on a CC thread are really good friends did something just like this in November for a CC friend who was getting married. Since there was no way we all could have gone to her wedding she asked for our help. So I sent her some designs that I drew up and she chose one. In this group of CC friends there are 2 from AR. Since thats where the wedding was the other AR member made the cake. So we all decided to make gumpaste flowers and ship them to AR so we could all feel like we helped with the cake. It worked out really well and the cake was so beautiful. So yes I think this is a wonderful idea and I cant wait to see this cake!
