I have a Kitchenaid Pro600 and it broke. At first after taking it apart it looked like it was just the housing unit that broke. Then after ordering a new one it appears that the gear itself is broke as well. Several of the teeth are broke. Stupid rolled buttercream!
So my husband said we would go buy a new one this weekend but I'm not sure I want another Kitchenaid. If it can't handle the rolled buttercream I don't think I want another of the same. Can anyone recommend another brand that they think can handle it. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Wow, I always viewed a KA as the cadillac mixer and if you wanted something better, you had to go to a commercial grade, like Hobart. Sorry, I'm no help but I will be interested to see what others suggest.

I have a Delonghi and I love mine. I make MMF with it and haven't had any problems yet *knock on wood*

I have a Cooks, JcPenney brand, w/I believe 700 watts. I love it. Never had much luck w/KitchenAid.

If you get another Kitchen Aid, get it at Williams Sonoma. They will replace it for the lifetime of the moxer if anything happens to it. I'm on number 3 from there, and only paid for the first one.

I have the same Kitchenaid model and have had so many problems with it! My prevous Kitchenaid was great and worked fine but I think there may be sometihng worng with the model.

Wow, I just upgraded to the Kitchen Aid 600 this last saturday. I just took it out of the box but have not used it yet. Compared to my oldie Classic one,looks impressive. Also added 5 years service plan.
How much do they normally last? I got my oldie at a Service merchandise around 17 or 18 years ago. and I never had a problem with it, but the last two years is when I have used it more than the rest, so I figured that when I find a great deal I would buy one, and I think I found it.
I got it at Kohls, the retailers price is $499.00, they had it for $399.00 plus they send you a debit card for $40.00 plus they told me that if I applied for a credit card there, even if you don't qualify, or even if you qualify and decide to pay with cash, they would deduct 20% more just for applying, which I did. So from $499.00 to $399.00 minus $80.00 from 20% minus $40.00 debit card you can use anywhere you choose, (I already sent my rebate) == $280.00 plus tax.
I tought it was a good deal and bought it. I hope i didn't make a mistke, I was also thinking of the Cuisinart, 7 quarts, 1000 watts, but that one they only have it online and anyway is too much for my hobbie

I think in general a KA is a good product. You might want to give them a call before doing anything drastic!

Call Kitchen Aid. They were very good when i had problems with my mixer, and it was at least 10 years old.

I'm on my second KA, my first is 20 yrs old, still works, but I wanted another one so I can use them both at the same time.

I think KA is a good quality product, however it's not a commercial grade mixer. I doubt they're built to make as many batches of fondant, rolled bc, and reg. bc as we make in them.

So I went to Macy's tonight to see how much a new mixer was going to cost me and the tag read $399.99. I was extremely happy and surprised when it rang up at $267.99 plus it has the $40.00 mail in rebate. My husband ordered the parts to hopefully fix my old one but I thought I'd get another one just incase he couldn't fix it. So for $227.99 even if he does fix the old one I'm gonna keep this one too. With any luck by distributing the work load between the two it will hopefully pro long their life. I just can't believe the great price I got on the new one. I guess it's to make up for the amount I've spent on parts for the old one.

It's another KitchenAid Pro600. Infact it's the same color and everything. So provided my husband fixes the other one I'll have twins sitting on my counter now.

I bought two (for almost $400 apiece) - and they've both broken (shortly after the warranty expired). I will never buy another.

I have 2 KA's. My first one is 17 years old and still going--yes, even with making homemade fondant. My MIL gave me hers that was only 3 years old because she didn't use it. It does sound different than my older one...I wouldn't dare try to make fondant in it. The gears just don't "sound" as strong...does that make sense?

Anyhoo--I love my KA's. You may want to try the KA Professional Series or Viking--those are super nice.
