Just wondering how you folks make those perfectly round mini-cakes. Is there a pan for these? I thought I might be able to use a biscuit cutter to cut and layer them?

We have 5 birthdays next week - each one 2 days apart. I always make one cake - and try to acknowledge everyone. This year I thought I'd make a "package" cake and surround it with those mini-cakes, one for each birthday VIP.

There are pans for smaller cakes but I think using the cutters is the way to go to.

P.S. What size are you thinking of doing?

Don't bother buying pans or cutters. Use a 4", 3", and a 2" diameter tin can that has had the rim removed on one end. I tried them and the cake just falls out after it has been cut. You don't have to worry about how deep your cake is either because the cans are at least 3" high.

icon_surprised.gif That is a great idea - using the tins.
Especially after i went and bought the 4 inch mini square and round tins for christmas cakes last year.

But will now save some empty tins and use them for even smaller but taller cakes - brillante dsilvest
