I always use what I like to call "old faithful", Wilton 1M to make a simple swirl atop my cupcakes. I'd like to step out of my 1m comfort zone and try some other tips.

What is your favorite tip for decorating cupcakes? Can we see a sample pic. Thanks!

I did an online how-to video last year that shows some fun tips for different cupcake designs with different tips. icon_smile.gif

I hope you get more replies to this post because I too am getting a little too comfortable with my 1M and find myself not wanting to try out the other 30 something other tips I have here. That picture is beautiful, I want to try those!!

I am making cupcakes for my son tomorrow (1st birthday) and am going to try out the 4B tip I bought, I'll be sure to post pictures if they are a success!

Yes, please definitely post a picture of the 6B. I used my 4B yesterday and they didn't come out as big of swirls as I wanted. icon_sad.gif I posted the picture under My Photos (the Pooh themed ones).

This weekend I did the 2D 'rose' top swirl. Easy and great effect. I see a lot of them in the galleries, they are really pretty. It's just like the 1M swirl but start in the middle and work to the outside.

So is the 1M swirl supposed to start at the outside? I started that way, but didn't like the way they finished up, so I started in the middle and was much happier with the result.

I guess it depends on the effect you're looking for. I like my 1M swirl to be high, like an ice cream cone, and if I start from the outside and work in, I can build more height that way.
