I got an order today for a going away / birthday cake. The individual wants it to be camouflage with glitter using fondant. Any tips on how to make the camouflage colored fondant? I dont think I've ever done anything like this before. Any tips? Thanks!

hmm i'm not sure how you could do it with fondant, but that would be really handy to know. I have done several camo cakes with buttercreme and my airbrush.

I made a camo cake for a cousins birthday last year....even went so far as to dye the cake batter 3 shades of green/brown with wilton paste and drop spoonfulls into the pan to make the cake. However I didn't use fondant I used BC and just dropped & smudged it together. I'll post a pic.

Make up good sized blobs of fondant (how much depends on the size of the cake(s) you want to cover) in olive green, brown, tan, maybe a bit of yellow &/or red .....mash them together and roll out. Do not knead them......you want the colors to stay sort of separate not mixed.

Is this for somebody going away in today's military? Today's camouflage is sand colors due to our war being in the desert:

you still have the same problem regarding how to make it; but be wary of which colors you want to use.

I think I'd try rolling out a large piece of fondant in the "main" background color, then making little "blobs" and "snakes" of the other two colors, placing them on the rolled fondant and rolling over to blend them in.

I made my individual camo colors, then I patchworked multiple pieces of hand-flattened fondant to each other. I kept it covered with saran and a damp paper towel as I added pieces. Start off with relatively small pieces because once you start rolling it out, it will spread quite a bit. Good luck!
