I have never used the sugar craft gun but I do have the green makins extruder. I personally do not like it. Every time I try to make round ropes they come out very jagged looking. I try mixing in Crisco but it does not seem to help. Maybe I am just using it wrong. Good luck with your search.

I have both the black and red sugar craft gun and the Makin's green clay extruder. I don't like the black and red sugar craft gun because it's very hard on the wrists. I prefer the Makin's clay extruder because it uses a twist action rather than a squeeze "trigger" action and as such it's easier for my wrists. I've never had a problem with jagged edges though, can't help you with that one.

I actually just broke my makins one! I guess I was twisting it so hard that the threading just split on the bottom where the disc goes! LOL

Anyway, to help it come out less jagged I always have to work the fondant till it's nice and soft and also add shortening depending on how dry the fondant is.

Thanks for the info! My rope comes out a little jagged too. I always put more crisco on it... but it doesn't seem to help. So maybe I just haven't worked the fondant enough! I'll give it a whirl!

I just recently got the Makins extruder and I like it alot more than the red & black gun. The red & black one was too hard on my wrist.
