The thread you posted hit home with me. My business recently participated in a local online competition. Clients and the community voted and left reviews for the business of their choice. Our business came out on top, and over 30 positive reviews were posted. A month following the competition, someone posted a very malicious review stating that we have "dummy" cakes displayed in our shop which means we have no talent and are not professionals. icon_surprised.gif They went on to say that since the cakes in our showroom aren't real, we should not have won. icon_eek.gif This completely floored me especially since all the other area cake shops have dummy cakes displayed in their showrooms as well. Like the OP, I was extremely upset at first, but after thinking about it, you have to take criticism with a grain of salt. Anyone that criticizes someone for using a dummy cake to display their work really has little knowledge of the cake business. I'm not bashing anyone or their opinions, but it's common knowledge that dummy cakes are used to display a cake decorator's abilities & talent at bridal shows, in storefront showrooms, and competitions as is the case on CC. If I displayed real cakes in my shop, I would have a rodent and insect problem in no time. I'd be passing out free wedding cake every three days. icon_lol.gif

Wow!

I started this thread thinking the op meant one thing and it turned out totally different. I'm glad I read to the end. *lol*

I was thinking that I have a hideous cake in my photos and what would I think i f someone commented negative on it. Then I laughed. I wouldn't be offended if they did because I know it is hideous. BUT... the friend that it was for asked specifically for "red and yellow roses". All I could think when I heard that was "Ronald McDonald is going to have to throw up on this cake". ((don't clowns throw up roses?... or maybe fart??? indydebi???)) I ended up just doing red roses and putting on a yellow border and accenting the border with the red. It could have looked worse. *lol*

If I get constructive criticism on one of my expreiments... great!

But... if someone ripped into one of the cakes that I love and am proud of, I might be offended.

again.. I see that this isn't what was originally meant. I'm glad there was finally some clarification.

See, This is the type of thing that gets me. If it's boring to you did you really feel it necessary to post it here? It's one thing for a conversation to veer but you were down right rude. K2 was trying to get something off her chest.
How would you like it if something bothered you and you were amongst friends and one of them yawned in the middle of you speaking and said they were bored? Insulted, I'm sure. If it's boring to you then move on. I will give you this: atleast you were rude in your real screan name. icon_cool.gif

(((yawn))) again....

But seriously, how is my screen name rude? Please, enlighten me. Waiting eagerly. icon_confused.gif

LOLOL!!! I don't think she meant your screenname was rude Jamie! Just that you posted under your real screenname! Or wait......did you already know that, and I fell for it???!

And by the way, not that I feel the need to explain myself, but I will anyways. I inserted my silly comments as a nod to the fact that these topics seem to be more and more prevelant, they get siller, and usually what starts off on a bad tone ends up a little lighter. Thankfully....like Indydebi's solution to the ice. icon_smile.gif

Apparently some members have opened new accounts under different screenames and then they can post 'troll' type things without being identified. Or at least be able to post their views about confrontational issues. Obviously I don't know that for sure, but it's been talked about in other threads recently. Sorry to confuse you!

There's no need to explain rudeness it's just who you are. As I said before a conversation veering is one thing being a b!#tch is another. Enlightenment Complete. thumbs_up.gif

I just put my daughter down for a nap and thought I'd check CC... I'm confused as well now, but why does it matter at this point?

This thread wasn't set in a "bad tone" and I don't find this topic "silly". This thread certainly wasn't posted for anyone's entertainment value either. (sorry if I misunderstood the direction of your comment - not sure what you mean by "silly" icon_confused.gif ).

Yes, I was angry, frustrated and running the gamut of emotions when I opened this thread. It's sad that people have to put other's down in order to feel better about themselves. thumbsdown.gif It does create a defensive atmosphere... so bravo to them, it worked.

The fact that conversation turns from cake at all gets annoying at times, not always, just at times. Personalities clash, and so it goes.

And when the convo goes off topic because the mood needs to be lightened, or whatever...that's a good thing!

I think we ought to put k8memphis on a bus and bring here to where there is real snow. If she can't handle a shovel I'll let he use the big snow blower that lets all the pretty white stuff blow back in your face. icon_lol.gif We luv ya k8memphis

Oh I missed this whole thing. I went looking for Tiggy's avatar to check out the origin of the 'yellow snow' comment.

Nuh uh uh--I paid my dues--I lived in 'lake effect snowland' where nobody else got snow- but we did. So I'm paid up.

The snow blower does sound like fun though.

I've been in ten-C for over twenny years but my friend just moved down here. She has no patience with our big 'snow day'. Bwuwahaha.
