I made cupcakes few times with Duncan Hines Butter Recipe Mix. Not sure what's wrong, the cupcakes were always shrink a lot and tempted to slope in the middle. I notice that the butter recipe doesn't rise as much as the other cake mixes but I like the taste and the texture better than the others. My cupcakes looked very small and when I made it with foil cupcake liner, it looked ugly because the shape was not even round anymore. I follow the recipe from the box and doctored it, example for regular butter cake:
- 1 box butter recipe mix
- 1 box pudding
- 4 eggs
- 2/3 cup milk or half&half
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
fill the cupcake half full (I only filled half full because I wanted to get flat cupcake). Should I use 1/2 cup butter as the box stated?
What did I do wrong? Please Help!!!!
Thank you sooo much...

Have you checked to make sure your oven is staying at the right temp?
Maybe try it without doctoring the mix and see if they raise.

Thank you soo much Danielle, you're right, I guess there's something wrong somewhere when I was doctoring the mix. I tried your advise to bake them again without changing anything and they're perfectly done. Was it because I melted the butter instead of just soften it and poured to the mix while it's still hot???Or might be I shouldn't used half and half (too much fat) icon_cry.gif I have long way to make this right. At least there's nothing wrong with my oven.
