Hi all, I was looking at Kathy Scott's store on ebay this morning and I noticed she has a Bling Starter Kit for making edible gems using something called Venuance Pearls in lieu of isomalt sugar. Is this something new on the market? Has anyone used these venuance pearls before and what did you think of them?

Here's a link to what I'm talking about: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=300262459679

They are not new. They are easier than isomalt. You just melt 'em. I haven't used them but I've read about them. I understand them to be pricey but very user friendly.

hi, i did go to the day of sharing in fuquay varina, nc. today... kathy did a great job on her demo of the isomalt gems... she did use the isomalt today.. and sells it in 3oz. blocks... she also had some of the kits that has the venuance pearls... i bought the block of already prepared isomalt.... couple of her gem molds... the sili spoon.... the brown silicone container.. she cuts these up.. and puts one in her kits... the blue silicone mold that she used to melt the isomalt... she says .... comes from a silicone muffin pan... she cuts them up also.. anyway... the demo was very good... she actually tints the isomalt different colors using colored venuance pearls... you can use the gel colors... but be very careful...... she uses silver luster dust on base of some.... she did a cross .. a heart.. etc... she made the demo very interesting and she is funny..she will be doing this demo at the convention.. if i had not been able to see it today... i would definetly be buying a ticket for it at the convention... anyway, hope this helps any that would like to see her do the demo and buy her products for this..

I use them a lot and they are VERY user friendly. The biggest concern is burning yourself. You don't really need the sili spoon, you can use a toothpick. I also sell the pearls on ebay and I have the option of buying the colors. If you want to try it without investing $38 that she sells hers for, I sell 4 oz. for 9.99, and all you need it a heat safe mold. I have molds that you can choose your own if you want on a different auction. Just look up isomalt on ebay and you should find me. If you have questions, you can email me directly to discuss.
All you do is melt the pearls in the microwave on short bursts (10-15 sec.). Then you pour them into the heat resistant molds. Wait for them to cool and badabing!! BLING. They are so easy and the colored pearls will add color so easily. You can use red, blue and yellow like a color wheel to create any color you want. Use them with the white to soften the color. (red/white=pink etc.)
The tackyness depends on your climate. If you live in a humid area, you should keep them airtight, but if you leave them in the a/c for a day or two, no more tackyness. If you want them shiny on top, you can rub a tiny bit of veg. oil on them to clear up foggy top. Make sure you stir out the bubbles to keep them looking clear (no bubbles or fog inside).
They are easy and fun. Little hint * if you put your mold in the microwave for the last two bursts of power it will warm the mold and you have a little more working time with your sugar before it hardens on you.
Let me know how it turns out guys!!

I tried to add a picture, but it's too big. I have many pictures on ebay if you want to look there.
