Since we have been talking challenges, I would like to see Kerry Vincent in one. Boy, does she annoy me. Nine times out of ten she has snotty remarks. I would like to see how she does on a time limit and especially a surprise challenge.

I'd like to see some of the CC members do one on Foodnetwork. At least 99% of us actually bake our own cakes, which is half the challange, getting the recipes to work AND taste good.
I think some members here could give the "Big Names" a run for their money and knock them back down to earth. 
I've only seen glimpses of her book, "romantic wedding cakes". They are very elaborate and neatly done. She sems to use alot of molds and presses in repetetive designs. What I like about her work is that it is very clean, which is probably why she's so harsh on people....she's a perfectionist like most of us on this site!!!

Oh My Gosh! you guys are SO RIGHT!! I would L-O-V-E to see her and the rest of the judges compete and have like Norm and Brownwen and Duff judge! how awesome would that competition be!!
I also think they should have a CC cake challenge - show that we (I really mean all of you and not me!) could seriously kick some BUTT!

I 2nd that, but am not one who will do so. She annoys me as well. She's good, but annoying (especially w/ her renaissance hair piece--I duck the cake boards thrown).
But I too would LOVE to see a CC challenge! I would throw Antonia74 & Aine 2 in there too! That would be awesome to see!

awhile back, there was a post from one of us who was asked to do a challenge. She opted to stay annonymous in that thread. Did we ever find out who it was? I have thought about that post often, but lost track of it....
Seriously, we should all e-mail FN and tell them to get their butts over here to see all of the amazing artists on CC!! Suggesting that they pick some of us less-famous cakers for a challenge rather than the same-old, same-old.
I'm sure they know about this place. There was a post quite awhile ago about someone being chosen to be on a challenge, and they promised to "reveal" who they were once the challenge was over. I still watch to see if I recognize any of the names from anyone in here.

TOTALLY agree! There are some people on this site that are so talented it blows my mind. I think some of them are better than the big names I have seen on there-Buddy, or that terrible woman who made the soccer player/blow up doll. Some decorators on this site could shoot to stardom if they were given coverage!

I have spoken to Kerry personally several times on the phone. The first time she suggested I call her concerning a question I had asked her in an e-mail. She was warm and just full of helpful tips. We talked for quite a long time. Since then, she has been very helpful whenever I have had a question. I so enjoy watching her on the Challenges because on the show she seems so austere, but truly she is a gem!
Personally, I want to see sugarshack, indydebi, jkalman, ummmm....man I am leaving some heavy hitters out....Leahs! Who else....

I'd LOVE to see Edna on a challenge! She is charming and witty, too. She'd be an instant star getting her own show like Duff or Rachael Ray did!

I totally agree! I make my husband watch these challanges all the time. He sits there and complains that I could do better. He is wrong of course, but I have no doubt that some of the decorators here at CC could knock their socks off! I think that you have to make maga bucks on your cakes and/or sell one to a celebrity to get on food network.

Amen, she gets on my nerves. Her work is amazing I agree, but why does she have to be rude. She had to start somewhere just like the rest of us.
listen the truth about food network challange is that is a tv show. they do not care about how people come off it is about making good tv. kerry in real life is a sweet heart who is a pioneer in our industry for stressing pionts on how it is an art aND WE DESERVE TO GET PAID. if people do not see what goes into what we do to them it is sugar butter and water. they make her come off that way.the same way they make me come off . the truth of it is i am a very good cake decorator mostly cause i have done alot of cakes. when you go to challange all the rules change . first off the 10 grand prize money is usally gone in the cost of buying tools making boards or contraption or try renting a van and drive from nj to denver it barley covers your cost trust me. second they are praying for you to drop a cake or fight with the judges or have some mishaps. alls i am saying sometimes i read these blogs and i say people dont even know me and they think i am a jerk . also remember they keep calling me back i never call them. you want to try then talk to me call food network in ny. or high noon productions in denver and come on the show . talk is cheap. also remember that you have two cammera guys up your butt in your face all day with the hot lights on you the air is drier in denver so your fondant cracks you wake up 4 am and start at 9 then finish about 10 pm it is alot harder then it looks . if i was in my bakery i can also calmly do my best work so the piont of this is to let you know the truth.

yes i just am tired of people thinking that i am a a******e or untalented. the truth is i never ever talk bad about other cake artist and i also never turn my back on people either there has been many times when i go out of my way to help people in the decorating community. also i am a baker so i really understand the science of it. no hard fellings about past bad blogs about me. but if you want to ask a question just ask it. i taught a class sunday you should ask those people about if i am an a*****e or un talented i had so much fun doing what i love to do and to see there reactions was just great.
