I'm hosting a baby shower next weekend and I'm planning on an 8" cake with cupcakes also. I don't really have the funds to make or buy a cupcake stand. I would like to know if anyone has made one with what you have on hand like depression glass plates and platters etc. What did you use as pillars to separate your plates?

Here is a link I found That shows you how to make one out of cake dummies and cardboard. You could modify it by using things you have on hand. I have also seen some posts on here where they used cheap plastic plates and stemware fron the $1 store to make them. Do a search in the forum. Hope this helps.

I made these stands yesterday and they came out beautiful! They were fairly easy to make & got lots of compliments.

you can absolutely use decorative plates and cups to make a stand, you could also use empty boxes stacked up on top of each other, just wrap them or drape with a table cloth and place cc's on the tiers

Cool link, Subaru! I'm going to make this stand for an upcoming birthday party. Thanks for sharing. icon_biggrin.gif
