I've been making cakes since I was 17 and I'm finally at the point where I'd like to start marketing my cakes a bit more. I've been trying to come up with a name, something catchy, that I could put on business cards. I've seen a lot of great names on this site (you guys are so crafty!!). I have come up with a few ideas but I want to make sure that I'm not taking a name from an already established business. These are my ideas (hopefully original, or somewhat anyway): Cakes Unlimited, Confections Unlimited, BabyCakes, Cake Occasions. I like BabyCakes (I just think it would be cool to answer the phone "Hi BabyCakes"), but I don't want to give the impression that I only make baby theme cakes (although they are my favorite). I also make other desserts, so I was thinking Confections Unlimited might work too. I would appreciate any feedback, positive or negative, regarding the names. If any of these names are already taken, please let me know. Thanks!

I think Baby Cakes is really cute. Maybe in smaller letters underneath you can write cakes and confections.

Welcome to Cakecentral!! glad to have you on board!

I think all the names you came up with are very clever. Confections Unlimited is my favorite. The "unlimited" part covers a wide range and that's a good thing. Although Baby Cakes is a cute name.....my first impression was that you mainly make "small" cakes!

Good luck whatever you should choose!

Well, it can include your name too.... me, when I'm ready, I'm considering MamaDucks Nummies or Deb's Delicious Delights.

Those are all good names, if you are thinking of putting your site online, cakesunlimited is already taken by two different people. I came up with my name when I delivered one of my first baby shower cakes and the mom started crying, her friend told her that she shouldn't shed teardrops.... hence: Tierdrop Bakeshop I just love answering the phone with a cute rhyming name. And people always ask me about the name which leads to orders!

First of all, I have to say that I am so in love with this website! Thanks for the advice. I'm not feeling any of the names I've thought of yet. I want something clever, that will catch people's attention. Something that they will remember (although, hopefully they will remember me because of my cakes too). Tierdrop Bakeshop is very clever! That's the type of name I want. I made a cake to bring to work for a baby shower today and everyone told me I was in the wrong business and that I should be making cakes so that was a boost to start selling cakes again.

This doesn't really help you, but I saw the cutest name today! It was Batter Up Bake Shop.

I like the idea of answering the phone with a catchy name...I just thought of what it would sound like if your business was "Sweet Thing" or "Yummy Bites" or something like that!

What a way to start a conversation! icon_lol.gif

OMG, I love the BatterUp thing. Too cute. And I just realized that my av has the wrong name. I need to fix that. I made that for my 5yr old because she wanted to see her name on my av but I forgot to fix it!

What about something like "Confectionery Factory"?
You could put your name in front of it too? icon_confused.gif

I was just looking through some forums and thinking to myself "I'm addicted to these" and it hit me. What do you all think about Cake Addiction as a cake business name? It doesn't have clever multiple meanings like Batter Up Bake Shop or Tierdrop Bake Shop, but since those are already taken, I think it's a pretty good name...

I like it! And if that doesn't work out, what about Sweet Addiction; Sweet Life; Sweet Delights.... maybe too many sweets?

rvallee- What is your first name? Is it something you could work with in your company's name? I like Cake Addiction but I like Sweet Addiction better. (probably because I like cake but love sweets! ha ha)

My first name is Renee. I've thought about Renee's Cakes or Cakes by Renee, but they just don't have the creative ring I'm looking for. Sweet Addiction is great too! I've been brainstorming the past few days and I've come up with some I really like. Earlier today, I thought I remembered seeing a member on here whose login name has something about Addiction in the title. Anyone out there know what I'm thinking of?? I'm afraid of accidentally stealing someone else's name...

just a thought

I'm currently considering "Confectionately Yours - Custom cakes with a little love baked right in! "...but get the one my Dad came up with..."The Flying Cake"????!!! lol icon_confused.gif According to him.."It's something people won't forget...very unique and funky." lol But would everyone expect my cakes to be animated or mobile then...lol j/k...I've also considered: Tiers of Joy, Laughter & Tiers, The Cake Fairy, Tah-Dah! - When no ordinary cake will do!, and a few others. Good luck with your choice...let us know what you decide on. icon_smile.gif

I thought of one today, that I really like. How about "Confectionately Yours" then underneath "Cakes and Confections by Renee"? I think it's a catchy name and it covers the range of stuff I make. Any thoughts?

Whoa! Sorry JennT. When "Confectionately Yours" popped into mind, I thought it was my own idea. But I must have seen your posting and it stuck with me subconsiously. I'm so sorry!! I will not use it. That's why I wanted to post this forum, so I didn't accidentally steal anyone else's name!!

rvalee, I have a name for you. It was staring me in the face every time I read a post of yours...

Reveries by Rvalee

As for myself, I have chosen Deb's Confectionary Delights. On the card I just put Special Occasion and Character cakes.

Mine is Desirable Desserts by Jenna. This lets everyone know that I do more than just cakes. Maybe one day... when I get my digital camera fixed, I will be able to post some pics.

Good Luck. Coming up with my name was a blast!!

Wow! You guys are so creative!

ok, this is my opinion...and the top three which i think are nice ( not in order)

Cake Addiction ( i think this says it all but sounds like you do only cakes)

Sweet Addiction ( has a sweetie-pie ring to it and it covers all the other products besides cakes)

Confectionery Unlimited ( i think this sounds more upmarket..something a big city bakery/sweets producer would have)

so...i guess it's how you feel about the name at the end of the day, how you want clients to perceive your business and you and finally go with your GUT feel!

Good luck in finding the right name for you! icon_biggrin.gif

Do let us know what you decide ( if you want to, that is).

I am not really good a comming up with names. For heaven's sake my toy poodles name is Puppie and he's not a puppy anymore.
Even if you don't have a catchy name you could have a catchy sign. Pretty colors and well lit. Not sure if I am of any help(probably not).
Good luck,
Michelle

Those are all very cool names! I decided to hold a contest at work to see what my coworkers could come up with. They have 1 week to make as many suggestions as they want/can. They are e-mailing them to one of the Admin Assistants. She is going to keep track of all entries and tally them up. At the end of the day on Monday, she will forward me a list of the ideas (without the name of the person who suggested it). I told everyone that I am not allowed to know their suggestions. The Admin Asst has told me that my coworkers are having a ton of fun with this contest and she has received A LOT of suggestions. The winner will receive a 'gift certificate' for a free decorated 8" round cake or a Red, White and Blue Pie to redeem whenever they wish. I'll let you know how it goes!

I love the "Batter Up" name.. very original.. Baby cakes is cute too .. It's catchy .. the one thing you need to think about is, what will make it stick in a persons mind.... I thought and thought on mine .. since I live in the south and cajun french is part of my culture, I thought "gateaux" (pronounce Gah Toe) which means "cakes" in french .. well, the gateaux name domain was already taken so I did Le'Gateaux which still means cakes in french icon_biggrin.gif
