I have an order coming up for a wedding and the groom wants the Dallas Cowboys Star w/yellow cake and strawberry icing so I'll have to cover w/fondant. My question is how in the world do you get fondant over a star shaped cake with no wrinkles? I saw one in the cake gallery that someone did back in Nov '08 and it looked great. I just can't figure out how she got the fondant so smooth. Thanks in advance for any help!

you would be amazed at how much easier it is to put fondant on an out of the ordinary shape vs. a straight round cake! I would just do a practice run if you can.
I seem to remember at some point that someone had put instructions on this site for cutting pieces out to make a large star and then covering it with fondant. Did I dream that?
Sorry I don't remember the post. This is the only Dallas Cowboy cake I recall (because I thought it was just too cute!) http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1162336
Thanks Bobwonderbuns. I saw that picture it is a cute cake but my groom wants a star cake. On the thread I was thinking about someone actually had drawn a diagram of the cuts they made out of a sheetcake and then put the pieces together to make a large star. Oh well, I guess I better hit the drawing board myself.
