Tia,
I did a cake recently and used graffetti as the idea for it. If your not able to airbrush it on then if you have an edible icing printer and sheets copy from the internet.

That is the best idea I have come up with using an edgey, street scene on the cake.

but you could also go with the heavy chain in fondant and make a bling bling center with his/her name in edible sugar etc.

Or make a turntable with maybe some popular artist record on the top etc.

what about doing a turn table with graffiti images over the disc/record.

How about a set of teeth with Grilz, to go with the chain!

It might be cute to do an old school style and have fondant laid out to look like a card board box with a boom box on it, or even a figure dancing with stars popping out on wire around it. Or a stage even with her favorite pop stars name in the background.

jefita, that so just reminded me of the break dancing cake that was done on Ace of Cakes. You know, the one with the peanut butter cup, cardbaord box, break dancer on top and when they showed the cake, there was a boom box next to it.

so icer101, have you decided what to do yet??

Here is a pic to help you out too:

And I just was thinking...the teens of today also like the clothing line "Pastry" by the Simmons girls (Run's daughters). So maybe you can incorporate something like that, too.

No problem sugar wishes!! My husband and I are true hip hop heads and maybe it's just a generational thing, but when we think of hip hop we think of RUN DMC and they came out with the staple "My Adidas" and had the fat laces and everything...true old-school Hip Hop culture.

I'm glad you like the adidas sneaker!!!

I'm so sorry I didn't catch this post until now. I know this is way to late to help give you ideas icer101, but I though it might help someone else who may be looking for ideas. Here is the cake I did for my friend's daughter who wanted a Hip Hop theme cake for her graduation. She just gave me the theme and the color's she wanted and said I had free range to do what ever I wanted. This is what I came up with. I had the hip hop sillouette's printed up on edible paper, cut them out and placed them on fondant, then just attached them to the side of the cake. She absolutely loved it. HTH
