I tried MacsMom Apple Pie Cake two nights ago. It was delicious, but I wasn't quite sure what to fill it with or what kind of frosting to use. I decided to just take the apple pie filling and mix it with a little bit of vanilla-cinnamon swiss meringue buttercream frosting. What frosting do you normally pair it with?
A caramel or cinnamon frosting. I fill it with pie filling layered over white chocolate truffle, or caramel whipped into the WCT.
How do you go about making the white chocolate truffle?
The recipes are in my signature line...
MacsMom...I was reading some of your recipes and I see that the Strawberry Cheesecake filling calls for Frostin' Pride and I'm unfamilar with what that is. Could you fill me in please? Thanks

MacsMom...I was reading some of your recipes and I see that the Strawberry Cheesecake filling calls for Frostin' Pride and I'm unfamilar with what that is. Could you fill me in please? Thanks
Frostin Pride is like Bettercreme - non-dairy whipped topping/frosting/filling. It comes frozen in milk carton style containers - thaw and whip. I find mone at Smart&Final and Sam's Club (at Sam's you have to ask the bakery).

I prefer Frostin Pride - it is a little thicker and more vanilla flavor - but it also more expensive.
I've never seen either of those around here but I'll start looking harder. Thanks
jamandbuttercream, are these actual cakes you make from the variations that Macsmom gave or are these cake recipes, icing and fillings that you have totally separate recipes on? That is a very impressive list. Would love to know . Thanks.

Thank you so much. Ill have to try that next time
@jules5000, no no! these are not my cake recipes, they all belong to MacsMom, In my post I just quoted MacsMom and said at the end " yeah one each of these now please" Well they made my mouth water!
How would I make a chocolate Mocha cake..and what fillings would it go with it? thanks!

You will need 3 or 4 packets of single serve instant coffee plus brewed coffee for the liquid to make a chocolate cake taste like coffee. I made it with the chocolate truffle filling, stirring mini-choc chips and another packet of instnat coffee into the truffle filling.
That sounds really good macsmom, but how do you make your truffle filling? Or I guess another way to put this would be that the way I know to make truffles is to like make a ganache type concoction and freeze or refrigerate until firm and scoop to make balls out of and roll into whatever you want. I guess I kind of thougt of that as the filling so am a little confused. So if you don't mind would you please tell us how you do your truffles and how do you fill them? and also what recipe do you use for your filling that you would add the coffee and mini-chips to? I hope this is not more confusing? I am always looking for new things to try and learn new methods so I would really appreciate any help you are willing to give. Thank you in advance. Julie
If anyone needs help finding all the recipes from all the threads that have google docs, please look in my signature.
I am wanting to try the "Scratch Version White Cake ("A Better White Cake" submitted by edencakes, discovered by LorienSkye)" on the gourmet flavors list. I am wondering how long does this cake stay moist? I am a fan of WASC using cake mixes, yet here lately it has been difficult to find th BC box mixes that I use. I like to make my cakes a couple of days ahead of time. So any tips will be helpful.
MacsMom, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all the hard work you have put into this thread! I will be forever thankful!

Hi, I would like to make the kahlua cake but can't find the coffee extract any subsititutes?
You can put regular kahlua in it. In fact I prefer it. The alcohol bakes off.
Not all of it.
A study conducted by the US Dept. of Agr. calculated the percentage of alcohol remaining in a dish based on various cooking methods.
Here's a chart that shows the results:

Another new cake to try! I love it.
You say you put the fruits in the processor. I would have thought you would use them it a more natural state (term?). How much did you pulverize them?

Sounds wonderful! Thanks for posting!
Why did you decide to substitute the water for the pineapple juice? Just curious.
So, has anyone had problems with the reduce Betty Crocker cake mix. The mix has been reduce - it is now 15.25oz. or are just adding more mix. You don't even get 2-8" cakes as posted by others.
