So my new website overhaul is done! I'm so excited. (www.celebrationgeneration.com)
We added a bunch of photos to non-gallery pages, using the more artsy shots we had - leaving the really straight photos for in the gallery.
Added the media section, including a password protected media kit section.
Also some updating and tidying up on some of the information, adding more info about the award we just won, etc.
Also added a link to our facebook app to the contact page.
I think this'll be enough to set the page apart from some of the local competition... for now. No idea how I'll have to step it up from here, when the time comes!
Your website is almost as magnificent as your cake!!! (ALMOST because your cakes are so perfect, I'm not sure that level can be duplicated).
I love the artsy shots on your non-gallery pages. I may have to borrow that idea for my site, would you mind?
Thanks for the kind words, you make me blush so!
As for borrowing the idea, Go for it! I have it good..my husband is my photographer!
It looks really good. Only two small things that I noticed...I couldn't find your name even though you have an about me section and contact section. Unless you did that on purpose.
Then two of the pages have a background, and the others have solid black.
Other than those small things....it looks really really nice and your cakes are bright and beautiful! And those acrylic stands are awesome....I have added those to my wish list!
I left my name out on purpose. Just works better with future plans, ya know?
The pages with the background were on purpose also. Those were both blog setups - I may end up removing the background eventually.
Lookin' good my friend..
I noticed one thing on your about the artist page.. it says "If there was an award for the cake designer who had taken *the* most meandering path to her idea career.. I'd be a shoe-in."
Should it be ideal career??
Other than that WTG..
loved the x-mas card too BTW.. fo shizzle.
Awesome Glad ya liked it.
I will go fix the typo now. I also had a friend that railed on me a bit for not having each gallery page link to all the others.
Some ppl you just can't please..
Happy Holidays Beeotch!! May you be blessed by noodles!
God, tell me about it.
I'm dealing with a bride now, who is an "artiste". With a budget to stay under, which is my basic charge!
Of course, she wants it all airbrushed metallic, a more expensive filling, individually airbrushed leaves covering the cake in various shades of metallic.. ya.
About to cut this one loose. We're not even to contract yet, and I've spent more time meeting with her (most of my brides don't bother!), and emailling her than most of my brides do by their wedding date!!
LOVE IT!! You have some amazing work on there, wow!
It's a classic, smooth background that really makes your cake photos pop out at the viewer. Very, very cool. (The "Blue & Magenta" and "Sketched Freehand Orchids" cakes are my absolute favourites!)
I really love that you've watermarked (SMART girl!!) and that the photos aren't obscured by them. I was scared at first that you hadn't when I spotted the thumnail pics, but when I clicked on one...there it was.
Your company motto makes me smile....love it!!
I figured the thumbnails were small enough to not really be a ton of use to anyone else Yup, I watermarked from when I first started the site, read too many horror stories here!
I've been trying to track down Chris Sheppard for the last little while, speaking of the motto. I want to name a cookie mix after him.. kinda of pay homage to him, for inspiring the name, motto, and general outlook I have with the biz!
Chris Sheppard, the DJ?? He's retired from the music scene and lives up here in Toronto, I thought?
I have a friend who works for BMG Music here in the city, I'll bet she'd have an idea of his agent or could find out for you. PM me if you want me to ask her!
OMG! Your cakes are stunning. Is that sketched freehand orchid really freehand? It's amazing. Do you mind me asking what you used to draw with?
Thanks everyone!
The Sketched Orchids really was freehand. I don't actually know how to draw, so I really shocked myself with that one!!
I used a wilton food color marker. I'd never used them before, and I figured it could be a fun idea. Positioned a silk (but great quality!) cymbidium orchid near the cake, and very carefully drew it!
