Contestant A2 -
Christmas Tree Cake: Three tier cake all layers made using the durable cake recipe from CC. Cake is carved for the tree shape and stacked using the SPS system (separators are covered in red fondant). Board is covered in fondant and a coffee can is used for the tree trunk. A red-fondant tree skirt covers the coffee can. The dog, mouse, packages, and ornaments at the base are made from gumpaste. Snowflakes were made using the tappit cutters. Each tier bottom is finished off with hand-cut embossed swags painted with luster dust. Red bows and swags surround the tiers (bow centers are made using Great Impressions jewel mold). The cake is topped off with a gumpaste star painted in luster dust and dipped in gold disco dust.
My GOSH that's some smooth fondant on the Christmas tree! It almost looks airbrushed! Only that one small, almost undetectable wrinkle... VERY nice looking cake...
I love all the detail on the pinecone! That must have taken a while to cover! I don't know that I'd have had the patience...
Good work everyone! I can't wait until June, when I can compete again!
These are both great cakes - don't think there is an obvious winner until the throwdown is over!!
Love the height on the pinecone - can't imagine getting a cake that high!
Great star on the tree cake.

Great star on the tree cake.
We are each entitled to our own opinions
Awesome! Both are great. Love the height of the pinceone - I really like tall cakes. The tree is wonderful - great detail and smooooooth finish....
bumpity bump! Come on eveyrone. These ladies worked really hard on their cakes. I am sure they would love to hear your comments and get your vote!!!
Thanks!
Loved the Christmas Tree, so beautifully smooth and precise! The Pinecone cake with the Poinsettias was very flashy and eye-catching! Both are excellent cakes! I'm so jealous!
Mosmom and Snowshoe1 both did incredible cakes for this throwdown. Let's give them a nice round of applause!
Congratulations to Snowshoe1 (again) for another amazing cake!
I think both cakes are just lovely. I can't imagine the work that went into forming each um....what are they called on a pinecone....each part of it. And the tree is so smooth. Really great cakes. Good job to both of you!
