Hi Everyone,
I have made a cake which is just basic, but I want to put wires coming out of the centre with stars on the end? Does anyone know the best way to make these? and what with?
Thanks in advance.
Sarah
Sarah, I did something like this, but with daisies. Here is the link:

I used gumpaste to make the daisies, slightly tucking the end of the wire into the daisy. I used a little gum glue to help secure everything and then let them lay flat until they were very dry. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Hi Sarand,
I also have done a cake like that before. In my pics it is the star cake. In fact alot of my cakes have the wires coming out of them with something on the ends.
It's actually pretty simple. Just get the shapes cut out that you want. Now I do make mine a little thicker than usual so that they will have "middles" for the wires to go into. Let them dry a little bit then stick the wires in them and then let them dry the rest of the way.
You should be ready to stick them in your cake at that time
I hope this can help you:
Go to search type stars and then search and you will get a lot pictures

Don't forget to post your final picture
First, let me say that both cakes are gorgeous! However, I have a few questions regarding the wire used for these toppers--what kind is it and where do you buy it? Do you stick the wire directly into the cake (I believe I have seen in previous posts that a coffee stirrer is put in the cake first)? Does the wire slice through the cake?
Any further information you can give me would be greatly appreciated!
TIA
Sheryl
Saap, the wire used is floral wire, which you can find in most craft stores and it comes in various colors. The first time I did a cake with wires, I put them straight into the cake - mistake! The wire starting cutting through the cake as the flowers drooped lower and lower. So, yes, I would use something to hold it up, such as a really skinny straw or a coffee stir stick.
This is so helpful, thank you so much... Your cakes are amazing!
I can't wait to have a go now. I will post my pics when done.
Merry Christmas

I think it would be helpful for you (anyone) to read at least part of this thread:

It's 17 pages, but I think you can get the gist in just a few.
