Ok I have an emergency! My grandmother has been gone for 5 years now and we all miss her so very much, but we also miss her cookies....

The problem is I can not put my hands on her recipes anywhere! We have no idea where they are! They weren't hard recipes.. basics:

**Chocolate Chip - (I have tons just need to find the right one)
**Chocolate and Vanilla drop cookies... - perfectly round and puffed up in the center just a little and she would cover the vanilla ones in chocolate icing and the chocolate in vanilla icing sometimes choc/choc and van/van... some had nuts some didn't.... NEED THIS ONE!!!!
**Oatmeal Raisin - (found a bunch need to find the right one)
**Peanut Butter - with SMALL bits of peanuts... have yet to find the right one
**Sugar Cookies - perfectly moist and soft.. only ones I can find turn out crunchy after sitting for more then an hour even if they come out soft and chewy....

I know this is a tall order and I'm sorry it's coming in so late in the season but something struck me today and told me the perfect gift for my mother would be a plate of mom-mom's cookies that she loved so much! I went hunting and found 1 ONE!!! cook book and it happens to be a "meal" book not a "goodies" book icon_sad.gif

I'm hoping someone can help me... DEBI.. I had your entire cookbook saved but my hard drive went caput! on me and I lost everything!!! So I'm sure you had at least half of these recipes in your Banna's book... maybe you can help me!

Thanks yall!

I can't help you with some of your recipes but I do have these three which I have been using for at least 40 years.

These stay nice and moist, especially if you roll them a little thicker
CUTOUT SUGAR COOKIES
set oven temp. at 375°F

1 1/3 cups shortening (I use butter or margarine)
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
(optional, 1/8 tsp. each, almond, orange, lemon flavors)
2 eggs
2 1/2 TBS. milk
4 cups flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening, add sugar and flavorings and cream together.
Add eggs and milk. Cream.
Mix flour, baking powder and salt together.
Add flour mixture to batter. Mix just until incorporated.

Cool in refrigerator 1 hour or more. Divide dough in half.
Roll out to desired thickness. I make mine almost 1/2 inch thick. Most people
make them 1/4 inch thick.
Cut in shapes and place on cookie sheet. Reroll the dough with the rest of the dough.
If you do not plan to ice the cookies, sprinkle with sugar. Otherwise, leave plain.
Bake at 375°F for 6 to 12 minutes, depending on how thich you roll them. They should
be lightly browned around the edges.

CHOCOLATE DROP COOKIES
oven temp. 350°F

1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 squares melted baking chocolate
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1/4 cup milk
Bake in 350°F oven for about 12 min.
Makes 30 cookies.

This doesn't have peanut pieces in it but the cookie is very good.
PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES
set oven temp. to 375°F

1/2 cup shortening (I use butter or margarine)
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
Mix, then blend in:
1 unbeaten egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Mix.
Combine all of the dry ingredients and add to
the batter. Mix, just until incorporated.
1 1/4 cup sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
14 tsp. cinnamon (optional)

Roll into balls and place on cookie sheet.
Flatten cookies, using the tines of a fork, forming a crisscross design.
Bake at 375°F for 12 to 15 min.

For the peanut butter cookies, try using super chunk peanut butter. I do that all the time. icon_biggrin.gif
