i remember reading a post a while back where someone said she adds a can of frosting to her cake batter (boxed mix) to get her cakes moist. i think it was coconut pecan frosting in chocolate cake. it intrigued me and wanted to try it but i don't know what the recipe is. has anyone else do this or tried this?

thanks in advance for your help or suggestions.

Pillsbury's original tunnel of fudge cake used dry frosting mix (which has been discontinued) but you can use Jiffy brand dry frosting mix:

This is really fun... although I've never done it for a cake I decorated. Ive only made them in bundt pans... anyways...

I know that a yellow cake with the german chocolate icing is awesome!!!!

Ive done white cake with strawberry, chocolate cake w/ cream cheese.... have fun and experiment...

Make cake batter as the box says, add in the icing and bake.... you will have to bake a lil longer than the box suggest!

Happy Baking!

Do you add the whole can of icing and does it dramatically change the flavor? Thanks!

All the above links give full and complete directions for using canned, dry or homemade frosting as an ingredient in the cake recipes.

Many cake reviews are also given.
