I need to make a Little Einstein rocket ship (30D)cake for my grandson's birthday this weekend. Have seen several in the galleries that are great. Can any of you who have done this cake give me some pointers/suggestions? Would greatly appreciate it!

I did Rocket for my nephews birthday in September. I used an 8" or 10" round pan (I can't remember which one) and a ball pan for on top. I didn't have to carve too much. One thing - the engines on the side - you may want to use rice krispie treats or something light because they didn't stay on so well. Mine was just buttercream. It wasn't too difficult. Feel free to pm me if you need any help.

Does it need to be 3D? I did a "flat" one for my son's bday.

I used a 10" round and a bowl for mine. I just put the cake I baked in the bowl on top of the 10" and cut until it looked right.

Thanks for the tips, especially about the side rockets. Yes, my daughter would like the 3-d cake so that is what I will be attempting. Will post a pic when I am done - wish me luck!
