I'm attending a yearly christmas party and need a wow them flavor for cake and frosting. It will be a simple white snowflake cake but really want a great flavor for cake and filling, and frosting. I'm stumped, any fabulous suggestions and/or recipes?

oh my gosh, I am way too simple compared to you guys! I wish I had that imagination.

My favs are chocolate cake with raspberry filling, cookies and cream or coffee mouse. Always with either IMBC or toba's chocolate buttercream.

I remember my Wilton instructor using cinnamon flavor in her buttercream by accident and everyone liked it.

If I was at that party, I'd be thrilled with either an eggnog flavor or mint/chocolate. Good luck! Let us know if you find some good recipes.

I make a dark chocolate cake from a mix with the extender recipe. I also add a tub a store-bought fudge frosting to the batter. The filling is a simple cream cheese frosting with crushed up Candy Cane Oreos in it. They are the newest limited edition Oreos, so if you want to try this recipe I would do it soon.

well I test baked an eggnog cake, I used the wasc recipe, omitted the almond, and added eggnog instead of water and also a good 1/4 tsp fresh grated nutmeg. It tasted like white cake. Anyone have a good eggnog flavored cake recipe. I will try the dark choco with crushed oreo next, if I can find them in the stores here. My husband and co workers love the test cakes!!!! I'm on a diet so glad they will take it off my hands.

wonder if this would give you a stronger eggnog flavor? Then you could add a little rum extract yum

I've been making Christmas cupcakes in Gingerbread with lemon filling and Chai latte flavor. The gingerbread/lemon is so good it gives me goosebumps!

I'm also a huge fan of eggnog though...

LorAnn Oil makes an egg nog flavoring; (that may give you more of the egg not flavor that you're trying to achieve). I've seen it sold on ebay too! Good luck.

Thanks!

Actually, the pumpkin one is a Dede Wilson recipe. The spice cake I use is also hers, and I'd probably just add a tablespoonful or two of the liqueur to my buttercream recipe. Not enough to get you toasted, but just enough to add flavor.

I don't have an eggnogg recipe, but I'm sure a google search would find you a few.

Mostly I was just talking off the top of my head. Now I have to find a good eggnogg recipe!

Alright, her's what I've settled on and baked. Dark chocolate pepermint patty cake with peppermint oreo cream filling for first tier, Gingerbread cake with whipped lemon curd mouse for second tier and WASC with choclate Ganache filling for top tier. I'm messing around with different frosting so haven't really settled on that except I want it all white since it is going to be a snowman, snowcovered tree cake. I tried out klairbears marshmallow frosting today and also made some peppermint meringues, here's a sample plate of the choco pepermint patty cake left over batter for cupcakes. It is also a shameless show off of my new Princess house crystal cake stand. It is etched with poinsettias.....shameless....
