I've been wanting to try my hand at cookies for awhile now, so when DD found a crown cookie cutter at our local craft store, I couldn't resist! We had a "Fancy Nancy" birthday party for her, so the cookies fit right in!

I used the NFSC recipe with Alice's Cookie Icing.
I was very pleased with the cookie recipe but not overly thrilled with the icing flavor. Is there a different recipe you would recommend, or something to tweak that recipe?

I also wondered about drying time for the icing. I felt like the cookies sat out a lot after they were iced and then after they were decorated, and when we ate them, I was a little disappointed they weren't as soft as I would have liked (no one else complained though!)
Any advice on that?

Nisha, I leave mine out for just a little bit, then put them into airtight rubbermaid containers to dry overnight, then do my detailing or writing the next day. Last night I forgot one iced cookie out until this morning, and it was hard. Just confirms I'm doing the right thing putting them into airtight containers.
your cookies are so so cute!!! Great job! Try Toba's Glace or Antonia74 RI, both recipes are on CC.
