I'm making 100 cupcakes that are topped with a fondant baby under a blanket for my friends baby shower. I've never made this many cupcakes before and was wondering about how much buttercream icing I would need to make for them. The cupcakes will be the standard size. Any idea anyone?

Hola! Welcome to CC. I have 96 cup cakes to make for 4:30am on black Friday. I figured that for one box mix (one batch scratch mix) I would need 1.5 batches for every 2 dozen. So, for 8 dozen, I'd need 6 batches of BC.

You're only making 4 more cupcakes than me so I would maybe start there.

I would guess 4 or 5 because you are just puting a thin layer under the fondant. I dont know.
