HAHAHAHA!!! I was wondering but didn't want to question---you know how sometimes a certain station will just run a special-thought maybe you missed out on it. But gas is about the same price as a gallon of milk-problem is we don't need 20 gallons or more at a time that's why it doesn't seem to hurt so much to buy the milk. Don't know what needs to be done to destroy this monster but there's gotta be someway!

ok, I've seen posts from you guys refering to your DH. What is a DH? I am assuming it is your husband, but I don't know what the "D" would be for....

I feel the D can stand for numerous words-Dear, Darling, DA$%-depending on the mood of the day...the gas prices here are over $3 but at least we are not in Atlanta where it's over $5! Talk about price gouging--kick them when they are down seems to be the motto!!

In Atlanta here...thankfully the station on my corner is holding steady around 2.89. Most are 2.89-3.29 or so. A few outrageous gougers are seen at $4+. thumbsdown.gif

Someone I know mentioned one of their local stations went from 3.29 to 5.99 yesterday in a span of 45 minutes. They promptly reported them to the governor's office for gouging.

Times like these can bring out the worst in people.

well I know what everyone means. We just put gas in our car this morning and it was at 2.99. worst part was we were at the gas station on monday and it was going for 2.65. talk about a jump in just a few days. In some ways I'm lucky. I don't drive so I get around by either walking or riding my bike and DH has only 3 mile comute a day. but he said that if it goes much higher he is going to ride his bike to work. the worst part is kids want to go here and there and when we tell them no because we want to save gas that act like we are punishing them. can't wait til they have there own car and have to pay these prices. I actually heard a rumor today that they might shut down school buses because they cant afford the gas. I hope thats not true

Guess what??? I just came home from getting gas... , bread, eggs, sugar & milk. I also needed gum tex but Michael's didn't have any, DARN). First I went to the AF base where my hubby works to get gas. Couldn't get gas there because the lines were so long. They even had SP's (security police) going down the line making sure everyone getting gas had military id's. Then went to Bookshires to get gas... no gas! Finally I went to a Chevron station closer to my house. I had to get gas because I had less then a 1/4 tank left. Gas was $2.99!!!! When I had passed it 20 minutes earlier the price was only $2.46!! I can't believe this!! Along with all the bad things that is happening in La. right now they go & raise the gas prices in the state! Go figure!

Living in Pensacola....our gas is about $3/gal right now. But...I'm more worried about actually having gas available at this time. I'm getting scared about ....god forbid...another hurricane coming (it is Sept)....and everyone needing to evacuate!!! I'm worried that if one does come, it will be difficult to leave the area b/c there isn't any gas....anywhere!!!!

Right now, I'll pay whatever I need to just to have some available when/if the time comes!!! I haven't stayed for a hurricane yet....and have no desire too, espically w/my 2 yr old son!!! But from everyone's predicitions...it's only going to get worse!!! Hurricanes and Gas!!

You know, these gas prices honestly wouldn't bother me so much if there were ANY sidewalks in this area!! You can't walk anywhere, or get around in any other way than cars, literally. We are so dependent on gas, it's sad. There aren't any sidewalks, bike paths, nothing. Not even in neighborhoods, and if you try to walk on the non-existent shoulders, you'd get killed. I don't know what the city planners were thinking, but now it's really hurting! At least Californians can bike to work if they have to! icon_smile.gif Now those Hybrids are looking really good, huh?

I guess it takes something like this to get our energy-efficient rears in gear! Ha!

Well my son just called me. Here in New Jersey our gas prices are 3.29 to 3.69. A gas station just dropped their price to 3.00 the lines are unbelieveable they go about 1 mile down the road and now the police are there making sure everything stays peaceful. Its really nuts around here and now acouple of gas stations have closed right around our area. Its pretty bad when filling your tank cost as much as food for my family for one week.

On tuesday, the day after Katrina hit, I filled up with gas on my way to work. It was still $2.49 a gallon. I then Had to drive to a job site about 2 hours away and was checking gas prices on the way. On the way back from the job site (4 hours later) One place raised their diesel prices 80 Cents yet another had only raised their prices 2 Cents (still cant' figure that one out because they are only 5 miles apart, however their on I-80 and truckers need it!)

When I drove by the gas station I had filled up at (only 6-7 hours earlier) They raised the cheapest gas by 60 cents. The premium they had raised 75 cents.

It is just crazy, however about 90% of gas prices rose on Tuesday/Wednesday morning to $2.99 up to $3.19 and we havne't seen any more price changes. So it was a major shock the first day, however they haven't kept going up, so that is partially good.

Hopefully it doesn't do that major of a jump again or I don't know what will happen. The business I work for just moved to a new building (40 miles from where they were) So now I drive 55 miles one way to work. This week has killed me, but we do what we have to do b/c there is no way I would make it to work otherwise.
