Hey Everyone!

This has nothing to do with cakes. I would like to know what the gas prices are in your part of the USA/ World. Gas prices here in Bossier City, Louisiana have made the all time high & gotten up to $2.50 a gallon!!!! I am in shock!! This is ridiculous!!!! thumbsdown.gificon_cry.gificon_eek.gif Gas is probably low here compared to other places. Thanks~ icon_lol.gif

$2.69 & up around here......and it's really hurting us because we own a landscaping company!!! icon_mad.gif Almost every piece of equipment we use is gas powered. So because of sky high gas prices, my DH is having to go out and sell, sell, sell!! lol We've gotten a few new accounts and also some big landscaping installations down at some condos on the beach....big money down there! But one good thing is we're able to recoup a little during October-early March....less growing grass, etc.=less work=less gas usage....so needless to say, fall/winter can't come soon enough for us this year!! The only thing that keeps us in business with these gas prices so high, truly, is that almost 100% of our fuel (even in our cars) is tax deductible. Thank the Lord!!

It's $2.45 here and I hear it's going up ... again! Totally ridiculous .. we need an alternative fuel for vehicles .. one that isn't so costly and cheap to make.

I filled up today in Belvidere, IL (80 miles west of Chicago) for $2.59. DH said he saw gas in by where he works closer to the city for $2.85. EEKS! I drive a Ford Expedition, what a gas hog! As soon as I start selling enough cakes to make a car payment, that truck is outta here!!

JennT: I completely understand where you are coming from. My hubby too is a self employed landscaper, backhoes, mowers, dump truck, bobcat, weedeaters, everything he has is a big, big, gas-guzler!!!

Hopefully, I will get more cake orders to pick up the slack.

I heard that the gas prices will go down after Labor day.

In the greater Olympia, Washington area they are around 2.69. But I camped at Mt. Rainier this weekend and saw prices close to the mountain around 2.89!!!! I'm always amazed when I go back home to eastern Ohio to visit my dad and the prices are so low.

2.65 here in covington, GA.

it makes me sick to see the prices so high!!

Even florida is around the same price - it use to be that florida was always higher than GA.

How come everyone is about the same now??

Oh don't get me started! I'm ready to buy a darn bike.

Last Wednesday it was at 2.29 here in Atlanta, GA. Thursday it went to 2.39 and then Friday it was at 2.49 and held at that through the weekend. I had numerous heart attacks.

Today on my way home I see that it's at 2.59 and I want to gouge my eyes out! This is insane.

I've heard that it may reach $3 by Labor Day!!!!

Emereldas, youyr daughter is also paying for someone to pump her gas because it is illegal to self serve there. Now for the Los Angeles, California price....... every one sit down and get yourself a paperbag to breathe slowly in and out of.... I saw for SELF SERVE at a station for $3.15 per gallon. Now that was the high. At Costco it cost us $50.00 to fill my minivan, and I was on 1/4 tank. We can't afford to go anywhere before school!

Hi I'm also from Canada...Our gas topped $1.13/liter today (works out to approx $4.50/gal). I'm a community nurse, so I have to use my car for work every day & I go through about 1/4 of a tank of gas/day, so I can empathize with you gals whose dh's have the landscaping businesses. Don't think I could make & sell enough cakes to keep me in gas these days!!! lol

Keep on decorating.

Here where we are it's up to $2.55 a gallon......it really is outrageous, but we have to get around too...although, I'm thinking a bicyle built for three might help with the budget and promote family togetherness. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I can't believe these prices!!! It's unbelievable!!!! You all know that I (along with my family & my hubby is a paid FF)volunteer for the local Fire Dept. & when I mean volunteer we do not get paid for gas or nothing! We cover an area of 180 sq miles! We are only going on 911 calls that are closer to home. We can't afford to go on calls too far away. We will go to any fire calls though. We have to to keep our insurance ratings low.

This is causing a lot of hardship for people everywhere. I have already raised my delivery fees for my wedding cakes. I feel sorry for the bride/groom paying!

I have a dodge minivan & it cost $34 to fill it up last week. My DH has a dodge 1500 truck.. It's gonna take around $50 to fill his!! When I bought the minivan in 02' it cost me $17 to fill the thing all the way to full!!! WOW has it changed!!

I wonder IF everyone in the US goes on strick the prices would go down?? NOT!! I doubt it!! Hang in there everybody!!

GUZZLE, GUZZLE!! That's all we hear around here! DH just recently bought a big diesel truck with 2 tanks...I haven't even asked what it takes to fill it up!! (I know it's not as much as unleaded gas, but jeez...2 tanks!!) lol I have an older Cadillac, my MIL's old car, it's a V8....GUZZLE, GUZZLE! Brand new ExMark mower, older Lesco mower, older Ferris mower, Honda push mower, about 4 weedeaters, 2 blowers, 4 edgers, 1 tractor....and we live in a rural area to boot. Town is only about 15 minutes away, kids school maybe 20 or so....but that's 2 round trips to town each day - morning & afternoon to drop off & pick up @ school. If I run out of an ingredient or something at home and I've already "been to town" I have to wait 'till the next day or pray my MIL (who lives one road over) has what I need.

We live on 6 acres, so.....I'm seriously considering getting a couple of dairy cows and some chickens (no kidding - we have 3 kids and want at least 1 more!! the amount of milk, eggs, butter & chicken we go through is unreal!! icon_eek.gif lol )....at least then, I'd never run out of milk, butter & eggs & all I'd have to buy to make cakes would be my dry ingredients & flavorings & I could stock up on those at Sam's CLub or something....lol

In Iowa, near the quad cities, I have seen prices ranging from 2.49 all the way up to 2.78 (this is for ethanol) these prices are all within about 35-40 mile range from my home. It is crazy!! but what can you do?

lol, we get others to drive if we go somewhere with someone else.... ok so maybe it's cheating, but we buy them dinner and we still come out ahead!!
