Can I stop the guey-ness of my sugar piece?

I am making a cake for tomorrow - our pastor is celebrating 10 years at the church. It is a 5 tier stacked cake. The topper is a cross with a flame (the methodist cross) made out of sugar. I followed a hard candy recipe, molded it and it looks great. But, with the rain and humidity, it is sweating and is really guey. The black part of the cross is starting to run down the red flame. Is there anything I can do to make it better? Will it survive?
Thanks for the help!

LOL, 'guey.' I had to say it out loud to understand it!

Sugar is so hygroscopic that as long as your piece is in a humid environment, it is going to continue to be gooey. You can try putting it in a food dehydrator to stop the sweating/melting but you can't undo the running colors.

Sorry for your troubles!
