Hello, I am using a new type of fondant (FONDARIFIC) every time i try to cover a 16 inch cake it tends to stick or rip. What can i do to fix this problem.

Welcome ....

Do you think the fondant is too thin or is it too dry.

Alot of times you need to roll it a bit thicker. If its too dry you may need to add a bit of shortening.

I've used Fondarific quite a bit and love it's flavor and texture. Please don't use water or it will stick.

I roll my fondnat out on clear plastic (the type you use as a tablecloth available by the yard) and fairly thick. Befre you roll, cover the surface of the clear plastic with a generous wipe of shortening and cover your rolling pin as well with shortening. You should have no problem lifting the plastic with the ondant on i to the cake, then peel back the plastic. I love using the clear plastic because I can see what the top of the cake will look like before it gets applied to the cake. Does that make sense?

Earwax pried from a dead dog's ear is better tasting than Wilton fondant.

I believe that fondarific is a GA based company, you can order their fondant online here is the website

http://www.fondarific.com/

Their fondant is the best tasting I have tried although some flavours are a bit sweet

Hahhaha!!!! That is so true!!! That Wilton fondant is horrible.

I love the taste of the marshmallow fondant that I make and it works really well.

I have got to quit reading though these posts when I'm at work (AKA "my real job")
I have caught myself laughing out loud more than once . PLEASE! Earwax pried from a dead dog's ear - you're killing me.
All kidding aside, I am learning so much from everyone. I just can't thank you enough!

Do you have a good recipe for the chocolate fondant, or white chocolate?

My daughter thinks Wilton fondant tastes like play-dough... and I tend to agree, icon_smile.gif

I agree that you may want to roll it thicker. It sounds like it's too thin.
