I am going to be filling a cake this evening with strawberries. If I use frozen strawberries, will they soak into the cake?

When I do this I defrost the Strawberries and then I place them in a strainer with a bowl underneath over night and then that will let the liquids drain out and to me this helps with the extra liquid.. Are you going to mix the Strawberries with whipped cream ?? or you just going to fill it with Strawberries..

I agree with Victoria,

If you do not defrost and strain the strawberries in advance, you are going to end up with a watery, soggy mess. Yikes! icon_surprised.gif

This was just on here little while ago. I always make my fruit fillings this way. Delicious. You can add this also(i mash them up little to add to buttercream, smbc, imbc, etc. hthhttp://cakecentral.com/t/758553/blackberry-filling-question

This strawberry filling is great.  It does not get soggy, and tastes like fresh strawberries.  I like it much better than  jam.  On a recent discussion I believe someone tried it with frozen strawberries and it worked well.

I know it's been a few months since someone posted, but has anyone tried the Food.com strawberry filling recipe posted by Yortma with any other types of fruit.  I was thinking of using raspberries, any thoughts or suggestions?
