Has anybody used the Wilton plates for a stacked cake, and if so, what is good or bad about them? I have a wedding cake for Friday, that came at the last minute, so I didn't have time to order the SPS. So... I do have the wilton plates on hand and was thinking about using them.
Usually I use Foamcore and bubble straws, but this is a big cake, and I thought I would at least ask about the Wilton plates.
Thanks for your help.
I have used the Wilton plates with the hidden pillar supports. Very stable. Never had a problem. I don't know anything about SPS but from what I've seen it looks like they work in about the same way. In fact after a near disaster using wooden dowels when my DH was with me setting up one time HE PREFERS that I use plates with hidden pillars.
I have used the Wilton plastic plates with the push in pillars a couple times and they work great.
Thank you, I will give it a try. This is a five tier cake, so I want it to be stable when moved.
