I have a friend that would like me to make a friend of hers a martini glass cake for her 21st birthday. I have been thinking about it and I figure I will have to make it flat. Does anyone have any suggestions for me or does anyone happen to have any pictures of cakes similar to this idea. If anyone thinks it is possible to make one stand I would love your input. I will have to transport this cake in the end. Thank you very much I appreciate all the advise from everybody.

Here is one I did. For the stem of the glass I used a loaf pan that was rounded, but you could carve it. For the top of the glass I just cut a square cake in half.

This is one that I did and I have another with basically the same style that I haven't had a chance to upload yet. It was a lot of fun to do and really not that difficult!

I made a martini cake once and I used one of those giant martini glasses from Wal-Mart (I believe they also have them at Michaels). I covered the inside of the glass in fondant. Than filled the glass with buttercream, a 6" round cake, buttercream, an 8" round cake, buttercream and a layer of fondant. It was one of the easiest cakes I have ever done, and it looked adorable. I wish I had a picture. It looked similar to this cake. http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1237447
