In general I am an all-weather person, never to complain about rain or messy weather. However, since I started caking I have found that winter is my favorite season to decorate in. I, like others, have heaters instead of hands and have to work quickly during warmer weather. But in the winter it's wonderful! The frosting in the bags stays the same consistency as when I put it in, candy clay does not need a break from my high temperature hands, etc. I was decorating some cookies the other day in my nice, cool kitchen, chuckling to myself at how I could take my time icon_biggrin.gif
Anyone else?

Hi Serious_Cakes
I love winter I love to be inside with the smell of something baking in the oven. I love to watch the snow falling outside the windows. And I just LOVE winter. Always have since I was little but since menopause it is a special blessing. icon_biggrin.gif

lol-my dad used to get mad at me being happy over snow or sleet, he said I'd change my mind when I would have to start driving in it. He was wrong icon_biggrin.gif I still love it and I even have a good area to shovel (it's good exercise, c'mon!). I was one of the only people in my office who would go stand at the window and watch the snow coming down icon_biggrin.gif

I'm with you!

I used to have cold hands and didn't have to worry about it, but the last few years I've warmed up a bit. Also, in the summer it's already like an oven without having to use one.

I actually baked some cookies yesterday and it was saving me some money in heating costs, rather than costing me more in cooling.

Woohoo! Hot tea, fuzzy slippers, and afghans, here I come!!!

I love fall and winter equally as much!

The lights twinkle more so in the winter....people are different in the winter...the oven being on is welcomed(almost begged for)...the smells are better received too...the baking smells are more intense too(might be because all the grody smells from outside are FROZEN???)

Head up to Canada - we've got plenty of winter here! In fact, I live in southern Ontario, which is actually more south than areas of some US states, but we've already had one "cover the ground" snowfall so far with plenty more to come! Bring your snowshoes!

It's nice to have the warmth and the sunshine for a little while I was in Mexico for a week one winter and you know what? I was happy coming back I like my snow and my sweaters and my boots. I have lived in a northern climate all my life and I know I would be unhappy without the four seasons.

icon_biggrin.gif From my screen name it's obvious I love winter!! Love all the outdoor activities (skiing, snowboarding, ice climbing, snowshoeing!) - unfortunately, the past several years the only time I see snow is by getting on a plane and going to Utah icon_eek.gif

Know what you mean about the baking! Love being inside on a sub-zero day and the oven is doing it's thing, everyone is hanging out in the kitchen, and aromas are so intense!

I love winter and cold weather. Love, love, love it. I wish I had enough money to chase winter all around the world and only live in winter climates all year long. I took a trip last December to the Arctic Circle and stayed at the Ice Hotel...words cannot describe how wonderful it was!

This former Illini moved south in 1982 and hasn't had a single regret. Love the warmth and when we do get a rare snowfall everything shuts down because we have no snow removal equipment. The best part is it is gorgeous and it seldom lasts 24 hours so it never gets dirty and grungy.

I'm with Mike .. I can't stand winter!! So cold that your nose feels like its burning when you step outside .. your eyes water ... fingers so cold you can't unlock your car door .. shoveling the driveway before you can go anywhere for anything .... roads that are icy and slushy and dangerous ... yeah .... I hate winter ...

I have always loved the winter, when I was little we would go sledding and make snow angels and all that fun stuff. I love winter now still, I love the lights at christmas time and the way they reflect off the snow covered ground. I like waking up to a fresh snow and seeing the world for once looking clean and pure. I always say it is God's little way of cleanning the earth. Besides that, gives me a good reason to stay inside and bake, bake, bake... Believe me, my friends and family love it!!

I am so with you on this one. LOVE LOVE LOVE Winter. Moved from Niagara Falls when I was ten to Arizona and spent 22 year there. When I met my husband, he lived in Michigan and I lived in AZ. When it started to get serious (or should I say too costly between travel and phone bills), we made the decision that one of us had to move. I jumped at the chance to move to MI so I could have a Winter with lots of snow. When he said, "One of us has to move." I don't think he even got the word "move" out of his mouth before I piped in and said, "I'll move," LOL. I've been here nearly 9 years now and everyone complains about winter and my cubemate HATES me this time of year. I get so excited when snow is in teh forecast. Last year they said it was the snowiest winter yet....I actually thought there wasn't enough icon_lol.gif and wanted more. They all think I'm crazy!

I've got say that I love snow, but since we don't get much of that in North Texas we are happy when we go to Winnipeg, Canada for Christmas to visit my sister in law. I love the crunch of the snow under my shoes, although I hate when you can feel your snot freeze up!!!! icon_eek.gif

From the Icebox of the Nation - International Falls, MN...I hate winter. It never ends! I must admit though, the snow is pretty, but if I never saw it again...it wouldn't hurt my feelings.

I did run the 5K freeze your gizzard blizzard run last year...that wasn't too bad...only -24 F...-42 windchill. The cold is a great motivator to finish the race...either finish or freeze to death!!!

Ya'll make me jealous. I have never seen or been in real snow and I am 52. We have a few hours of flurries and once every 30 or so years it might actually make it to the ground so that you can make a mushy leafy snowman. I even traveled to Switzerland to see real snow, but it had melted by June. I tell people we have Cajun Snow. What's that you ask? It's when they burn the sugarcane fields and for miles you get the ash that floats through. Black Snow that smells. YUK! One year I hope to just head north for Christmas until we hit snow, play in it, find a lodge, sip whatever the locals have, go on a sleigh ride, go back to the lodge in front of a fire, then head home the next year. Yep, my dream Christmas someday. I love winter mostly because of the clothes. I love sweaters, sweatsuits, heavy jackets, boots. The thing is, down here, you rarely get to wear your coat, much less sweaters. We have the best food for winter, so at our house we crank up the air condition so that we can cook Gumbo. Anyway, make some snow angels for me this year, cause I doubt this winter will be any different for us in the south.

Mike, luckily I don't have to take 696 or 275 anymore....I go straight down Ford Road to Domino's Farms....It's been great! Plus, I look at driving in the snow as a challenge...I look for any excuse to drive in it...."Oh dear, we need some pasta for dinner tonight." "Dang, out of Fabric Sheets...gotta run to the store." What's for dinner? Nah, I don't want Pizza. How about I run to Carabba's and pick up some food?'

Yep, I'm officially WEIRD!!! icon_lol.gif

I don't mind cold and snow as long as I can drive in it. The good thing in Indiana is "if you don't like the weather, just wait 3 days and it'll change!' So true. Even our biggest snow storm is pretty much melted away in 3-4 days.

Fall is my favorite season. Chili and snuggly sweaters, hot chocolate sipped on the couch while cuddled under a warm throw cover. Outdoor craft fairs with the smell of falling leaves and just enough of a nip in the air to keep you walking a tad faster. Apples from the local orchard that taste NOTHING like the crappy ones you buy in the grocery. Autumn seems to only last a few weeks, though, while winter seems to drag on forever!!

I hate spring! Muddy yards, rainy and windy, swimsuits on sale in March (HATE that!), and you never know how to dress because it's freezing rainy cold one day and 80 degrees the next. I really. hate. spring.

I LOVE WINTER!!! Born in GA, y'all! But transplanted so many years ago that I can't even remember anything but a New England Winter!

Snowsnowsnow, icicles hangin' off the roof, the smell of wood burning in the fireplace, hot cider, more snow, sledding races down our hill of a front yard, smiling as I drive to the grocery store on nearly deserted roads, downhill skiing, skating on our local pond, a BIG snowstorm, cozy pj's. All things I love about Winter.

But the best one was last Winter. We adopted our young Lab last November; he was only 7 months old and came up from New Orleans. He was here at our place about a month when we had our first snowfall one night. The next morning, we let Cooper out the back door. He ran out the door as usual and stopped dead in his tracks after 3-4 strides. He looked around at this white stuff falling in the air, sniffed the ground and galloped off full speed around the yard as the happiest dog I've ever seen! Rolling in it, plowing it off the grass with his open mouth. OMG he had us in stitches! The kids and I went out and played with him for an hour. Well, needless to say, we're all waiting for our first snowfall this year...so we can go out and play with our Yankee snow dog! He's as transplanted as I am! icon_lol.gif

Not me...nope, I am solar powered, 2 days of cloudy skies with no sunshine and my battery goes dead.

I love Christmas too. The first year I moved to California I went shopping in a mall. Everything was decorated to the max for Christmas, Christmas music playing, Salvation Army ringing their bell, the smell of caramel corn. I really got caught up in it.....then I went outside and the temp. was in the 70's. I was expecting snow. It wasn't hard for me to adjust to a warm Christmas though.

Love that sunshine! icon_cool.gif
