Our local fire department is having a halloween festival and I have been asked to make the cupcakes. They are going to let the childern decorate their own cupcakes. They bought me 6 boxes of cake mix and I figure that will give me about 144 cupcakes. So how much icing do I need? I generally use Indydeb's BC recipe.

For each box of cake mix, 4-5 cups of icing should be enough to generously frost the cupcakes. I use a large star tip, swirling around the cupcake, to apply icing.

4-5 cups per box sounds good. If the kids will be given additional icing for decorations, add in an extra few cups.
