ive noticed alot of 3d cakes use rice krispie treats....especially for heads etc?
but i havnt got a clue where to even start making them!! wouldnt they all be knobbly? and show thru fondant? any info on how to make them and how to cover them in fondant without getting lumps would be great!!! thanks in advance girls

Yes, they are knobbly. When I do them I usually cover them with a layer of frosting to fill in the pits, then cover with fondant. I know some will use melted chocolate or candy melts to the same purpose.
When I did my big golf ball I used 2 layers of fondant. The first I used to fill in the pits and get a smooth surface, then I covered in the final layer that would show. Worked great.
I use the ready to use ones. By the time I get them shaped into something, the RKT are fairly smooth as they have compressed. I find the store-bought RKTs more solid and of course, extremely convenient.
I've read on this site that many RKT users will crush up the rice krispies and then add the butter/marshmallow - Good Luck!
