oh! i made these this summer for my cousin's graduation party. they were cute, but so much apple was wasted in making them, it's a shame. they were good though. rhondab, yours look yummy!
Cutting the apple wasn't hard, but I did have to make sure the mellon baller cut through all the peel before digging deeper to make the apple ball.
For the leftover apple - time to make applesauce, maybe some applets candy
I tried this myself after seeing that article in the magazine. I wondered when I read it why they were telling you to use butterscotch or peanut butter chips instead of caramel. Well I decided I was using caramel anyway, and I found out. With no apple skin for the caramel to stick to, it slides right off! It was a delicious disaster, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anybody (using caramel on them, I mean). You could always use the chips and then drizzle caramel after that sets up, I guess.
