I know that people leave their frosting in the fridge in an airtight container when they have leftovers. My question is, I have leftover icing after i got done icing some cupcakes. Can i Put this into the frige, bag and all to use at another time? If so how long can I keep it in their? The bag isn't reusable it is a plastic throw away one. Does this matter?

Thanks for any help!

I use IMBC and refrigerate my BC as well as freeze it. I refrigerate for a couple of days or freeze for a couple of months.

Thank you..

Now, I know I will use the rest of the frosting that are in the bags so can I just pop them in the fridge while they are still in the plastic bags or should I put them into something else?

i like to use the ziplock freezer bags and I write the date I made the icing and what consisistency (thin, med, etc) and then pop them into the freezer. They thaw pretty quickly when I want to use them again and taste fine. Sometimes to quicken the thaw time, I will knead the icing and scrunch/pound the bags with my hands.

I have found leaving them inthe pastry bag does not work well. The bags deteriate faster; become greasy. Also the icing needs to be rebeaten to use so there is no advantage to leaving them in the bag.
