Ok, I don't know if it's just me, but every time I try to read a thread, or look at a picture, the sparkly Sarah thingy, is in my way! I can't get it to go away.

I tried clicking on it, and it made it worse, now it follows me wherever I go URGH! Does anybody know how to get rid of it?

I've got it too....not on the left side, it's to the right and it usually happens when I open a forum topic...it's kinda like the emoticon smiley faces that show up on the top sometimes and when your mouse runs over it you hear the smiley say "hellooooo"

Not seeing that either ... maybe it's regional. For a long time, there was a banner ad at the top from the Obama campaign saing "Indiana ... vote!" I'm betting this banner ad wasn't running in Oklahoma.

I don't know about the Sarah thing, but the nuva ring ad just blows my mind. I haven't been on the site for a while and was surprised to see this. I expected to see food products advertised on a cake site not birth control.

Did anyone else that had the "Sarah" box end up having a whole new computer this morning? It's almost like a Windows Update that wiped out all history, pre-set home pages, etc. I'm running a virus scan right now ... but since I didn't open anything in the Sarah box or anything else it doesn't seem like it would have anything to do with it, but it was the only strange thing that happened yesterday.

No, it was an Ad thing on the side, where you can make your web-site sparkle or something. I made the mistake of clicking on it to get it to go away, and it did the opposite, it followed me around this site. Now it's gone, Yeah! I see the cake forum had trouble with it too.

The Sarah thing sounds really odd. Haven't seen anything like that. I didn't even notice the birth control ad. Haven't seen any political ads.

I'm not trying to flame here, but don't the ads keep this site free? I'm sure they'd rather ads that didn't upset or offend anyone, but do we know how much choice they have? I just love this site so much -- I think we all do -- and I don't want it to fall by the wayside. Remember that beggars can't be choosers.

I truly don't mean to aggravate anyone; I'm just really bummed. Two of my favorite family-owned businesses just closed. One was a cake supply. Times are hard, let's try to be understanding.

Let me clarify my earlier post. I was not offended about the ad or any ads on the site. I just thought it was a really bizarre ad to be on a cake decorating site.

I understand that advertising spots need to be sold to keep the costs down or free.

Lastly, I need to apologize to deetmar. I didn't mean to add to your original post and comment on something besides what you were asking about.

Maybe we get them in Ohio because we are sometimes a swing state. Either way, it's annoying. No matter which candidate you support, I don't come here to see the ads for presidents like I do everywhere else.

Sorry that I started this , I didn't mean to upset anybody. Sarah is back again! She was first on the "Home Page", and now she is following me around again.

I totally understand that they need the ads to keep going, but I would think an ad that follows peopoe would be considered cyber stalking.

I truly apologize. If someone knows how I can get it to quit following me around, I would appreciate it. Although, I will warn you that when I clicked on it to try to make it smaller, or x out of it, that's when it started following me.

All ideas would be appreciated.

BTW, since it is following me again, I can tell you what it says.

"Tye your name and get your own Glitter. Then there is a box to type your name in. Under it is "SARAH" is yellow flashing sparkley. The last line says "Powered by Webfetti". So that's the add I was talking about.

I have seen the glitter thing too but didn't equate it with Gov. Palin because I a few years ago I had a 8 Sarahs or Saras in my 6th grade class, along with 7 Justins. My son thinks it looks "cool" and wanted me to type his name so it could be in glitter. My husband who works in computers is always telling me not to click on sites because that's often a way bad people will put a virus on the computer (they hack the ad and do it that way often without the people who put the ad on even knowing it) so I don't. BTW I've not seen any political ads (thank goodness) because I'm sick of them myself. This campaign has been going too long.

I was actually making a very veiled reference to the SI swimsuit edition, but I thought that outright saying that, combined with the other product category might have been a bit graphic, if more likely to be true. I should have thought of the snowmobile ads.
